Characters and/or events depicted in this article are slightly retconned from the Classic Continuity. |
The pre-retcon version, presented in this article, belongs to the Original Series Future Timeline. |
Vulkanus is a Detrovite[1][2] criminal who is one of Vulkanus' futures from an alternate timeline.[note 2][note 3]
He is a frequent enemy of Ben 10,000, and currently resides in the Null Void.
Appearance[]
Vulkanus looks exactly like his Prime Timeline counterpart during the Original Series, except his suit is dark green instead of red.
History[]
Background[]
Vulkanus has encountered and fought with Ben 10,000 on multiple occasions since Ben was 10 years old.[pop-up 3][11]
Ben 10[]
This Vulkanus first appears in Ken 10, causing trouble in Omnitrix City on Ken Tennyson's 10th birthday. Ben 10,000 was forced to leave the birthday party early to deal with Vulkanus and fought him very quickly as Four Arms.
Angry and annoyed at the prospect of missing another one of his son's birthdays due to work, Four Arms punched Vulkanus away, causing him to teeter over the edge of a tall building. Acting quickly, Ben transformed back to human form and threw a Null Void Containment Egg at Vulkanus, trapping and compressing him in the egg. Vulkanus' egg was then given to Max Tennyson, and sent to the Null Void via their restricted Null Void Chamber.
Powers and Abilities[]
Vulkanus has enhanced durability, enough to easily receive punches from an adult Tetramand.[11]
Appearances[]

Season 4[]

Notes[]
- ↑ The Detrovites' home planet was first mentioned in Inferno, which aired on September 18, 2009, without being named. The name Vulcan was first added to the wiki to Vulkanus' page on January 10, 2010 by a user named Dee Jetray, then to Technorg's page on March 14, 2010 by Linkmadara. A page for Vulcan was created by an anonymous user on May 29, 2010. Finally, the name was added to the Detrovite page on January 18, 2011 by Ckbassist. No source for the name was provided in any of these instances. Vulcan was later listed as Vulkanus', and by extension, the Detrovites' home planet on the Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: The Wild Truth DVD, which was released in 2012.[merch 1] However, as the name was never said in the show, nor had the crew ever acknowledged it, this wiki does not consider Vulcan to be the Detrovites' home planet.[BTP 1]
- ↑ The Omniverse crew brought back the Ben 10,000 from the Original Series instead of working on a new one like in Ultimate Alien.[DJW 1][DJW 2][DJW 3][DJW 4][DJW 5][DJW 6][DJW 7]
- This is due to:
- The executives' push for having everything more like the Original Series, which was the most successful of the franchise.[DJW 6]
- The crew's preference of the original Ben 10,000[DJW 5] over the Ultimate Alien portrayal.[DJW 7]
- Derrick J. Wyatt made several further statements to corroborate this, expanding on what was known from the Original Series, such as the backstories for the Biomnitrix and Kevin Levin invoking the plotlines of Ben 10,000[DJW 8] and Ken 10[DJW 9] respectively, the defining tragedy in Ben 10,000's life having now occurred at the age of 20,[DJW 10] "shifted" from the original age of 15,[pop-up 1][3] etc.
- The writing of the show also explicitly called this out, such as when Ben identified the future Dr. Animo in Animo Crackers as the same person who he encountered in Ben 10,000,[4] and other efforts were made throughout the last few seasons to align the story with the original future timeline, in terms of character designs, set designs and plot lines.
- This is due to:
- ↑ Ben 10,000 is stated to be Ben Prime's true future self.[DJW 4]
- This is evidenced in-show in Omniverse by the fact that both the Ben 10,000[5][6] and the future Dr. Animo[4] recalled characters and events from the present day. Chrono-Spanner also frequently visits present day with effects of his actions manifest in his present.[7] This would not be possible if these characters belonged to an alternate timeline.
- It was pointed out by fans that this created a plot hole with the Original Series, as Ben 10,000 was from an alternate timeline[8][9][pop-up 2][10] in which he never travelled to the future when he was 10, and consequently did not give Max a cake on his 60th birthday, while Ben Prime did.[3] Thus, Ben 10,000 did not recall the events of the episode from his younger self's perspective.[9][DM 1][DM 2][DM 3]
- Derrick responded to the matter by saying: "Your 'plot holes' are irrelevant. Time isn't completely fixed, it's shifting. Events can be subtly altered. But Ben 10,000 is the future for the Ben Prime timeline."[DJW 4] Therefore, it is an unintentional retcon by the Omniverse crew.
