The VNM-3 Specimen is an unidentified life-form that appeared in That's The Stuff.
Appearance[]
It appears as a highly viscous purple fluid. When transformed into another life-form, the life-form appears to have purple eyes.
Personality[]
It is extremely aggressive, as when it prepares to attack, it produces grunts and bristles, even if it is transformed.
History[]
Background[]
The unidentified specimen was found on a satellite. The section of the satellite it was on was removed, and the specimen was taken to be studied by scientists.
Ben 10[]
One of the scientists studying the specimen, Remi, had no success in eliciting a response from it. When leaving to go eat lunch, he accidentally knocked over the tube containing it, freeing the specimen. It eventually met Ben as Grey Matter, mimicking him. It eventually turned violent, and locked him in a cleaning closet while it imitated him. Eventually, Gwen and Max caught on, and Ben escaped from the closet using Omni-Enhanced Four Arms. However, he was unable to defeat it. After realizing the specimen's form destabilized when looking into mirrors, Ben used Omni-Enhanced Diamondhead to surround it with reflective crystals, finally defeating the specimen. Justine and Remi then returned from lunch, and stored the specimen in a cup.
Powers and Abilities[]
The VNM-3 specimen is capable of shapeshifting into any type of organic life, and if someone looks at it, it will copy the foe's strength and size. It can also pass through small spaces.
Weaknesses[]
The specimen will deteriorate when surrounded by mirrors and revert to its original form. As Omni-Enhanced Four Arms, it was vulnerable to the real deal's Fulmini energy, which it lacks.
Appearances[]

Season 2[]
- That's The Stuff (first appearance)
Trivia[]
- Justine hypothesized its shapeshifting ability is an accelerated way for it to reach the top of a local food chain.
- The Space Slime shares similarities with the Lenopans from the Classic Continuity, even at one point turning purple, the Lenopan's standard color.
- Kelly Turnbull pitched an episode for season 4 featuring the VNM-3 specimen in which it is contained in wherever Phil stores his alien tech before being taken over by the Forever Knight helmet. However, the episode was scrapped because the series was winding down by that point and the episode itself was not in the cards.[KT 1]
