Talpaedans are an armadillo-like species made entirely of organic metal from Poiana Lüncas,[note 1] a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy.
Appearance[]
Talpaedans are ten-foot-tall behemoths in the resemblance of fully mechanical rodents. They have thick, yellow skin resembling armored plating that covers their heads, torsos, shoulders, arms, knees, shins, calves, and feet while everything else is black. Their arms from the elbow down contain spring-loaded hammer pistons with the springs showing through the forearms of their yellow "armor". They have silver hands and feet with four fingers and three toes, tiny silver ears, and a long silver prehensile tail. Talpaedans from Dimension 23 tend to be blue.
Only male Talpaedans have been seen, so it is unknown what female Talpaedans look like.
Powers and Abilities[]
A Talpaedan's power comes from their forearms, which are embedded with biomechanical pneumatic pistons.[AP 1] They run from the hand, through the arm socket, and out the elbow, and can extend out of either side. By pumping them back and forth rapidly, Talpaedans can use them as biological jackhammers and rumble the earth around him with destructive vibrations,[DVD 1] creating tremors;[1] fissures;[2][3] and earthquakes.[3][AP 1] Talpaedans can also vibrate their own bodies with extreme precision, as Andreas was able to counter-vibrate his body to nearly completely nullify the impact of a sonic cannon that would have destroyed 5 square miles. Andreas' counter-vibration was also able to completely collapse a Forever Knight castle building into rubble.[4]
Talpaedans can retract their fingers into their hand socket,[5][6] or morph their hands into spinning drills.[6][7][8][9] Their mastery over the ground allows him to effortlessly dig tunnels deep in the ground;[10][11][DVD 1] to the point that they can glide through solid earth and rock as simply as Humans can walk through air.[6][3][AP 1]
Talpaedans are incredibly strong, as Armodrillo was able to lift a Mucilator,[12] hold his own against Trombipulor and launch him over several buildings,[3] harm a Galilean with his drills,[13] and destroy ten robots from Dimension 12.[14] Additionally, they can generate shock waves that can destroy buildings from their sheer strength, as demonstrated by Ultimate Aggregor.[15][16] Talpaedans can pump their pistons forward to further enhance the power of their punches and create shock waves;[8] pummel enemies; and batter buildings, even mountains, down to rubble.[AP 1] They can also do this to launch themselves high in the air off the ground in a pinch;[7] shoot objects in their grip forward like a cannon;[17][18] or extend the reach of their arms for a sudden and powerful shove, as demonstrated by Toolboxx.[18]
Talpaedans possess enhanced durability, courtesy of their armor. They are durable enough to withstand attacks from many powerful opponents, as well as being thrown through walls.[17] Talpaedans are also immune to neuroshock blasts, as demonstrated by Andreas.[4]
Talpaedans are quite agile, as Armodrillo was able to quickly roll out of the way of Slamworm's attack.[8]
Talpaedans are capable of rapidly spinning their drills to generate a continuous shock wave that effectively functions as a blender. This technique was used by Humungousaur with Armodrillo's arm (courtesy of Skurd) to completely disintegrate a tree.[19]
Weaknesses[]
Certain weapons can cause a Talpaedan's nervous system to go out of control and make them unable to stop vibrating their arm.[17]
Talpaedans are at a massive disadvantage against a Slammoid due to them being able to easily dig him out of the ground.[12][7][8]
Talpaedans are vulnerable to electricity.[17]
Talpaedans can be rendered unconscious if they are hit by a quill from a member of Argit's species, as demonstrated with Andreas.[4]
Talpaedans can be suffocated if a large amount of matter covers their whole body and compresses it enough.[20]
Notable Talpaedans[]
- Armodrillo (the Omnitrix's DNA sample of a Talpaedan)
- Toolboxx (the Hero Watch's DNA sample of a Talpaedan)
- Negative Armodrillo (Albedo's DNA sample of a Talpaedan)
- Andreas
Notable Talpaedan Hybrids[]
- Ultimate Aggregor (1/6 Talpaedan)
- Ultimate Kevin (part Talpaedan)
Etymology[]
The name Talpaedan is derived from Talpidae, which is a name for a family of mammals that includes subterranean animals such as moles.
Trivia[]
- Because the Talpaedans are from the Andromeda Galaxy, Talpaedan DNA wasn't in the Codon Stream until the Ultimatrix scanned Andreas' in Andreas' Fault.
- Talpaedans have grey, partially translucent blood.[4]
Notes[]
- ↑ Poiana Lüncas was revealed to be Armodrillo's, and by extension, the Talpaedans', home planet in the fifty-third issue of the Cartoon Network Action Pack series, released on December 1, 2010.[AP 1] Despite this, on April 14, 2011, a user named Reece Philippe Villamonte edited Armodrillo's page, claiming that Terraexcava was his home planet. The page for Terraexcava would later be created on April 30, 2011 by another user named Sillifactu, citing Bandai's website and fan site Ben10Toys.net as sources. Archived pages from the Bandai site do not seem to have any information regarding Armodrillo's home planet. Thus, Poiana Lüncas is the true name of the Talpaedans' home planet.[BTP 1]
