Talpaedans are a robotic, armadillo-like species from Terraexcava, a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy.

Appearance

Talpaedans are ten-feet-tall aliens that look like a cross between rodents and robots. They have hard yellow armored skin. Their arms contain jackhammer parts, which are also present on their hands and other places. They have a tail. They have four fingers and three toes. Talpaedans from Dimension 23 tend to be blue.

Only male Talpaedans have been seen, so it is unknown what female Talpaedans look like.

Powers and Abilities

Talpaedans have incredible digging capabilities thanks to their jackhammer arms, and can transform their hands into drills to help themselves burrow underground and move through it. Talpaedans can even dig through solid rock.[1] Their drill hands can also be very useful in battle, as seen when Armodrillo fought Slamworm.[2] Their drill hands can also cause a lot of pain to a Galilean.[3]

Talpaedans possess enhanced durability, courtesy of their armor. They are durable enough to withstand attacks from many powerful opponents, as well as being thrown through walls and other solid surfaces.

Talpaedans possess enhanced strength, as Armodrillo was able to destroy ten robots from Dimension 12,[4] lift up a Mucilator,[5] and hold his own against Trumbipulor.[6]

Talpaedans can jump exceptionally high.

Talpaedans are immune to gas.[6]

Talpaedans can create destructive earthquakes by placing their hands on the ground and pumping the jackhammer pistons on their elbows.[7] They can also do this by slamming their hands onto the ground.

Using their jackhammer arms, Talpaedans can propel themselves very high into the air by punching the ground, as seen when Armodrillo avoided getting rammed by Crabdozer.[8]

Talpaedans can extend their hands by pushing in the screws on their arms.[9]

Talpaedans able to create fissures in the ground, although they may have to first dig deep underground to do this.[10]

Using their jackhammer arms, Talpaedans can create shock waves to blast away larger enemies with a single punch[2] and launch objects they are holding.[9]

Talpaedans can create enough vibrations to collapse buildings into rubble, as demonstrated by Andreas when he destroyed a Forever Knight castle.[11]

Weaknesses

Even though a Talpaedan's armor is highly durable, it is not strong enough to keep Argit's quills[11] or Zombozo's bowling pins from hurting them, as demonstrated by Armodrillo.[6]

Certain weapons can cause a Talpaedan's nervous system to go out of control and make them unable to stop vibrating his arms.[12]

Talpaedans can be suffocated if a large amount of matter covers their whole body and compresses it enough.[13]

Talpaedans have a weakness against electricity.[12]

Talpaedans are vulnerable to being trapped by a Slammoid.[5][8][2]

A Talpaedan's drill hands cannot cause pain when used on Tetramands, as they only cause a ticklish feeling for them.[14]

It has been shown Talpaedans have a hard time controlling their jackhammers if they are scared.[11]

Etymology

The name Talpaedan is derived from Talpidae, which is a name for a family of mammals that includes subterranean animals such as moles.

Trivia

  • Because the Talpaedans are from the Andromeda Galaxy, Talpaedan DNA wasn't in the Codon Stream until the Ultimatrix scanned Andreas' in Andreas' Fault.
  • Talpaedans have grey, partially translucent blood.[11]
