Talpaedans are an armadillo-like species made entirely of organic metal from Poiana Lüncas,[note 1] a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy.

Appearance[]

Talpaedans are ten-foot-tall behemoths in the resemblance of fully mechanical rodents. They have thick, yellow skin resembling armored plating that covers their heads, torsos, shoulders, arms, knees, shins, calves, and feet while everything else is black. Their arms from the elbow down contain spring-loaded hammer pistons with the springs showing through the forearms of their yellow "armor". They have silver hands and feet with four fingers and three toes, tiny silver ears, and a long silver prehensile tail. Talpaedans from Dimension 23 tend to be blue.

Only male Talpaedans have been seen, so it is unknown what female Talpaedans look like.

Powers and Abilities[]

Talpaedans have incredible digging capabilities thanks to their jackhammer arms and can transform their hands into drills to help themselves burrow underground and move through it. Talpaedans can even dig through solid rock.[2] Their drill hands can also be very useful in battle, as seen when Armodrillo fought Slamworm,[3] and can also cause a lot of pain to a Galilean.[4]

Talpaedans can create enough vibrations to collapse buildings into rubble, as demonstrated by Andreas when he destroyed a Forever Knight castle.[5]

Using their jackhammer arms, Talpaedans can propel himself very high into the air by punching the ground, as seen when Armodrillo avoided getting rammed by Crabdozer.[6]

Talpaedans can create destructive earthquakes by placing their hands on the ground and pumping the jackhammer pistons on their olecranons.[7] Talpaedans also have the capability to cause a magnitude 10 earthquake depending on where they try it, such as fault lines on tectonic plates.[DR 1]

Talpaedans are able to create fissures in the ground.[8]

Talpaedans possess enhanced strength, as Armodrillo was able to destroy ten robots from Dimension 12,[9] lift up a Mucilator,[10] and hold his own against Trombipulor.[11]

Using their jackhammer arms and rockets in his pistons, Talpaedans can create shock waves to blast away larger enemies with a single punch[3] and launch objects they are holding.[12]

Talpaedans possess enhanced durability, courtesy of their armor. They are durable enough to withstand attacks from many powerful opponents, as well as being thrown through walls and other solid surfaces.

Talpaedans are immune to neuroshock blasts, as demonstrated by Andreas.[5]

Talpaedans are capable of spinning their drills so fast to move the air around it in high enough speeds to act like blender blades that are strong enough to destroy an entire tree.[13]

Talpaedans can extend their hands by pushing in the pistons on their arms.[12]

In a similar way to Geochelone Aerios, Talpaedans can retract their fingers, leaving only a spheroid hand in place.[2] This has been used by Aggregor to punch enemies.[14]

Weaknesses[]

Certain weapons can cause a Talpaedan's nervous system to go out of control and make them unable to stop vibrating their arms.[15] They can also have a hard time controlling their jackhammers if they are scared, as demonstrated with Andreas.[5]

Talpaedans are at a massive disadvantage against a Slammoid due to them being able to easily dig Talpaedans out of the ground.[10][6][3]

Talpaedans are weak against electricity.[15]

A Talpaedan can be rendered unconscious if they are hit by a quill from a member of Argit's species, as demonstrated with Andreas.[5]

Talpaedans can be suffocated if a large amount of matter covers their whole body and compresses it enough.[16]

Talpaedans cannot cause an earthquake on surfaces such as bedrock.[DR 1]

Etymology[]

The name Talpaedan is derived from Talpidae, which is a name for a family of mammals that includes subterranean animals such as moles.

Trivia[]

Notes[]

  1. Poiana Lüncas was revealed to be Armodrillo's, and by extension, the Talpaedans', home planet in the fifty-third issue of the Cartoon Network Action Pack series, released on December 1, 2010.[merch 1] Despite this, on April 14, 2011, a user named Reece Philippe Villamonte edited Armodrillo's page, claiming that Terraexcava was his home planet. The page for Terraexcava would later be created on April 30, 2011 by another user named Sillifactu, citing Bandai's website and fan site Ben10Toys.net as sources. Archived pages from the Bandai site do not seem to have any information regarding Armodrillo's home planet. Thus, Poiana Lüncas is the true name of the Talpaedans' home planet.[1]
