Rio de Janeiro is a city on Earth that first appeared in The Claws of the Cat. It is the capital of the state of the same name, in Brazil.

In the episode The Claws of the Cat, Team Tennyson goes to Rio de Janeiro for the bonfire festival, Gwen is upset with Ben for not wanting her as a partner, which motivates her to learn capoeira. Some time later, Lord Decibel appears on the beach, with Bass and Treble, his new helpers, on a floating stage threatening people with his sound waves. However, Max, who was once a DJ in the 80s, uses his DJ skills and equipment to defeat Decibel.
