"Make time, kid. The future of the omniverse is at stake!"
"The - "omniverse"?"
"It's like all the existing universes rolled into one, and Alien X is storming his way across 'em."

Maximilian and Gwen.[1]

The Omniverse[1] is the total sum of all spacetime, comprised of all realities and all (parallel and branched) versions of history, known as dimensions, timelines or universes. The number of such realities are infinite.[DR 1]

History[]

Ben 10[]

In Innervasion Part 4: Mind Over Alien Matter, Vilgax was sent to the Null Void by High Override.

In Crossover Nexus, Ben Tennyson was summoned to the Nexus Realm by Strike. He manages to get away from Strike (who wants to X him), and runs around the city avoiding him alongside Garnet. They soon find and save another hero, K.O. Now traveling as a trio, they find Raven, who informs them of the place they've travelled to. The four make their way to Strike's lair and team up to defeat him, with Ben being the one to deal the final punch, riding on K.O.'s powerfist and transforming into multiple Cartoon Network heroes. They fix the city Strike was destroying and Raven creates a portal for them to all go home.

In Ben 10 Versus the Universe: The Movie, Vilgax escape from the Null Void aboard a spacecraft, abd. Ben was sent there, where he battled several inmates before running into Azmuth. After battling the other inmates, Ben managed to escape the Null Void using Omni-Naut Shock Rock.

In Ben 10,010, a Ben 10,000 from an alternate future traveled to Dimension 27998.3 and asked Ben for help in dealing with the Xerges, an alien race that had invaded Earth in his future. Ben is then taken to the future and successfully manages to defeat the alien threat alongside Ben 10,000.

In Alien X-Tinction, Alien X travels the Omniverse, stealing the Omnitrices from every Ben Tennyson he can find. He visits Maximilian Tennyson's dimension and kills his Ben. This causes Maximilian to follow after him in an effort to get his revenge and stop his rampage. In one dimension, where Gwen never attended the summer road trip, Alien X petrifies Max and mangles Ben's arm after taking his Omnitrix; Maximilian arrives too late and has to repair the damage. While travelling in between dimensions in a modified Rustbucket, Maximillian is ambushed by Phase Parasites. He is forced to abandon ship, teleporting to one last dimension before the ship explodes.

He lands in Dimension 27998.3, in front of the Ben, Gwen, and Max; currently hiding from Alien X. He butts heads with this Ben about the severity of Alien X's power and Ben's inability to hold him back. Alien X soon finds them and zones in on Ben, whittling him down during a long fight until he's able to take his Omnitrix. As the four think of what to do next, a different Ben visits them, who claims to also have been following after Alien X. He has the benefit of using a small handheld device to open portals to traverse the Omniverse. They all form a plan to use this new Ben's Omnitrix to lure Alien X back and fight him, while Maximillian uses his portal device to find another Ben to help. The plan mostly falls apart when he gets back with the third Ben, but having a second Omnitrix-wielder helps even things out. As they fight, Gwen gives Ben the idea to keep expanding this family of alternate Bens. Ben grabs the portal device and takes Maximillian through it; they travel to multiple dimensions that haven't been invaded by Alien X yet and convince their Omnitrix-wielder to come help. Just as Alien X was going to win, they return with two more Bens and a Gwen.

They make their final stand against Alien X, learning to work together and helping each other. Alien X is finally defeated and reverts to his human form, a version of Ben Tennyson himself. He explains he comes from a dimension where his Gwen and Max perished. Maximillian offers him the chance to have a new family; Ben X declines and says he would rather go back to the Null Void, but Maximilian promises him that they'll be spending time together once his sentence ends. Maximilian opens an exit portal and thanks Team Tennyson for reminding him that everyone needs a family. All the alternate Bens and Gwen celebrate saving the Omniverse and say goodbye as they exit.

Trivia[]

  • The first use of the term "Omniverse" was as the title for Ben 10: Omniverse before being mentioned in the Alien Worlds shorts.
  • Celestialsapiens can move freely throughout the Omniverse.[4][1]
  • The Reboot Continuity and the Classic Continuity are part of a greater Cartoon Network omniverse.[3]
    • Duncan Rouleau claims the Reboot is canon to the Classic Continuity as an alternate reality.[DR 4][DR 5][DR 6] He also states that it is possible for Classic Ben and Reboot Ben to meet.[DR 3]
  • Maximilian's map of Omniverse resembles the Professor Paradox's map of the Multiverse in And Then There Were None.
  • Generally, the video games and/or comics aren't canon because they need an internal thematic core binding them. The comics and video games haven't always drawn from canon and are so disparate from each other it would be difficult to find the connective tissue providing that common core.[DR 7]
