Omnitrix Crystals[PoE 1] are the physical manifestations of the Omnitrix energy stolen from Ben in Ben 10: Protector of Earth.
Appearance[]
They appear as green crystals, which float and spin in the air.
Function[]
The Omnitrix Crystals, and by extent, the omni-energy that they represent, contain both DNA and incredible amounts of raw energy, the latter capable of enhancing an individual or powering a machine. If given enough amounts of electrical current, the crystals themselves can be weaponized.[1][PoE 2] Once a crystal is brought close to the Omnitrix, it will shatter and all its pieces will fly back into the Omnitrix, returning any DNA or energy that it had.
Every new crystal Ben found and reabsorbed back into the Omnitrix enhanced it:
- The first contained XLR8's DNA, and returned him to the Omnitrix's available playlist.
- The second contained Cannonbolt's DNA, and returned him to the Omnitrix's available playlist.
- The third contained Wildvine's DNA, and returned him to the Omnitrix's available playlist.
- Other crystals containing the DNA of Wildmutt, Stinkfly, and Diamondhead were stripped of DNA by Dr. Animo. Ben found one of these crystals on Zs'Skayr's person, which returned the Omnitrix to "full power" and unlocked the ability "Hero Control", which allowed Ben to switch directly between alien forms.[2][PoE 2]
- After defeating Vilgax, Ben found six more crystals on board the Chimeran Hammer. He rushed to obtain them, but they scattered.
History[]
While the Tennysons were sleeping at the Grand Canyon, Vilgax sent a small insect-sized drone to Earth. It flew into the Rustbucket and probed the Omnitrix, syphoning nearly all of its energy while Ben was asleep. The energy became crystals. With them, Vilgax began to enact his plan, and entrusted crystals to various villains to accomplish it. He used the first crystal to power a massive attack drone, which he sent to destroy Ben the next morning. Sir Enoch and his group of Forever Knights intercepted the second crystal from Vilgax's drones. Sir Enoch used the crystal to power his Armortron Crusader, a giant mechanical suit that he would have used to defend the Earth from Vilgax's forces. Ben defeated both of these robots and took their crystals.
The third Omnitrix Crystal (and Wildvine's DNA within it) was used to enhance Snap Dragon, an alien plant from the Null Void, which Vilgax allowed to escape with Kevin 11. After taking root at the top of the Seattle Space Needle and spreading plant life across the city, Ben defeated it and claimed its crystal. Vilgax paid Zs'Skayr two crystals to steal both a Null Void Projector and an Etheral Amplifier from a Plumber base in the midwest. These crystals were already stripped of their DNA by Dr. Animo for his own purposes; Zs'Skayr tried to use their remaining energy to enhance his abilities and defeat Ben.
Ben defeated Snap Dragon, claimed its crystal, and defeated Dr. Animo. Vilgax, now having a Null Void Projector enhanced by an Ethereal Amplifier, needed to keep the six remaining crystals on board his ship to contain the power the devices were emitting. After defeating Vilgax, Ben tried to claim the crystals, but the crystals scattered and destabilized the Null Void Projector.

Trivia[]
- After defeating Dr. Animo, the Omnitrix suddenly re-unlocked Master Control. It is unclear which Omnitrix Crystal, if any, caused this to happen.
- In the Ben 10: Omniverse game, near-identical looking "Codon Crystals" can be found. Collecting 5 of these will increase Ben and Rook's maximum energy bar.
