The Null Guardians,[1] also known as Null Guards[merch 1][merch 2] or Nullvoiders,[pop-up 1][2] are an artificial species native to the Null Void.
Appearance[]
Null Guardians are large beasts with long bodies consisting of just a mouth, a pair of wings, and a mess of around 7 tentacles at the base. The shape of their teeth and lack of eyes or ears of any kind make them resemble Vulpimancers. They are purplish-gray in color; and grow short spines on their dorsal side and tentacles, which are connected directly to their synapses.
Behavior[]
Null Guardians can easily be tamed and used as steeds, provided the rider is more dominant or intimidating than them[2] or knows how to manipulate their synapses.[3]
Null Guardians travel and hunt in flocks, able to find prey using their telepathy despite being blind.[pop-up 1] Hunting sessions are competitive, often resulting in them fighting and biting each other to get to their food.[2]
History[]
Background[]
After the Null Void was created by the Galvan to house their banished criminals, other worlds had discovered the dimension and started using it for their own supply of criminals. The Galvans had foreseen this becoming a problem, and created the Null Guardians to separate the prisoners.[1]
Ben 10[]
Null Guardians were first seen in Truth, when Phil freed one of them when he tried to escape from Max and Ben.
They were also seen in Back With a Vengeance, when Vilgax, Kevin, and Ben were trapped in the Null Void, with several of these aliens attacking. Vilgax and Kevin managed to control them and used them in an attempt to catch Ben and snatch the Omnitrix from him.
Alien Force[]
They appeared again in Voided, where they were controlled by Dr. Animo to control all the aliens from Null Void as a part of his master plan. Dr. Animo was trapped in this dimension for an unknown amount of time, and when he discovered how incredible these creatures were, he controlled them and forced them to work for him. Animo was defeated and they were released from his control.
One of them was seen in War of the Worlds: Part 2, controlled by Max and used in the battle against the Highbreed.
One was also seen briefly in Singlehanded, when Ben got caught in the Projector during a fight with Sunder.
They also appeared in Vendetta where they were seen protecting an exit portal to the Null Void when Ragnarok escaped from Incarcecon. Although they tried to stop him, they failed because he easily eluded them.
Ultimate Alien[]
In ...Nor Iron Bars a Cage, a flock of Null Guardians was seen flying.
Powers and Abilities[]
Null Guardians are capable of firing red[1] or purple energy beams from their mouths.[4]
Using their wings, Null Guardians can fly.
Null Guardians' tentacles are prehensile and can coil around and hold things in a grip.[1]
Null Guardians are strong enough to carry a large container with the combined weight of 7 different life forms using their tentacles,[1] and can carry a life form in their jaws.[2]
Null Guardians circumvent their lack of sensory organs by being able to telepathically detect the Mana of potential prey.[pop-up 1][2]
Weaknesses[]
The spines on a Null Guardian can be grabbed and used to trigger their synapses, allowing someone to override their own motor functions and steer them with some success.[3]
Null Guardians are vulnerable to falling under Dr. Animo's telepathic control over animals.[1]
Null Guardians can be hurt by fire[2] and electricity.[1]
