Nanites are microscopic machines that were created by the many international scientists during the Nanite Project.
History[]
Background[]
At the time of the explosion of the Nanite Reactor, the nanites entered the atmosphere and spread across the globe. Nanites exist within almost every living being, including plants and have bonded to their molecular structure on Earth. Normally, nanites are completely harmless; however, when activated, they mutate the biology of their host, giving them grotesque physical features and/or special abilities. These are called EVOs which stands for Exponentially Variegated Organisms.
Ben 10[]
In Ben Gen 10, Rex Salazar used the Nanites in his body to try to cure Ben (as Cannonbolt), believing him to be an EVO. Rex's attempt proved to be a failure, as the Omnitrix became infected with nanites and began transforming everyone nearby into EVOs. At the end of the special, Rex managed to have more control over his nanites, and, being more confident, he repaired Ben's Omnitrix, curing all those transformed into aliens.
