Mutant Wasps are common Earth wasps, which were mutated by Dr. Animo's Transmodulator.
Appearance[]
One Mutant Wasp in the Original Series has six big, spiky legs and two cheliceraes. Its eight red eyes are arranged in a row and it has lateral rows of sharp white teeth in addition to its mandibles. It has darker stripes all over its body. It has a head crest that is shaped like a concave deltoid and has markings on it.
Another Mutant Wasp in Omniverse looks identical to the first, except that it is much smaller and has a gold and black color scheme. Its eyes are instead arranged in a square, and it has light blue wings.
History[]
Ben 10[]
One Mutant Wasp appeared in Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix, where Dr. Animo released it, his then-latest creation, to stop Ben from interrupting the launch of his Devolution Bomb. Ben fought the wasp as (Heatblast in the Red Version; Eye Guy in the Gold Version; and XLR8 in the Blue Version), but the wasp was resistant to all his attacks. It flew away, drawing Ben's attention to freeing Max and Gwen. The wasp tried to sting them, but got its stinger stuck in the ground. After the bomb set off, Animo flew away on the back of the wasp. Ben later caught up with them and distracted Animo as Grey Matter, causing Animo to steer the wasp into some pipes, incapacitating them both.
Omniverse[]
A Mutant Wasp appeared in the episode Special Delivery, where it sat among the crowd at Psyphon's auction in Undertown.
Powers and Abilities[]
Mutant Wasps can fly very fast and agile in the air, and can use either their stingers or front legs to attack.
Like all other mutants, Mutant Wasps are very strong, being able to support a fully-grown man on their backs. They are also very durable, as one could survive gas explosions; an Opticoid's energy beams; the rapid jabs of a Kineceleran; and the DNA waves of the Devolution Bomb, and was completely immune to fire.
Weaknesses[]
Stuck Stinger
Mutant Wasps' stingers can get stuck in surfaces. In the case of getting stuck to the ground, they are especially helpless, as all their limbs are suspended.
