“ | There are many dimensions, many universes, many earths - and thus, many Ben Tennysons across those dimensions. Which are not always in sync in time. | ” |
– Professor Paradox explaining the multiverse to No Watch Ben.[1] |
The Multiverse,[1] also known as Omniverse[DJW 1] or Cross-Time,[2] is the total sum of all spacetime, comprised of all realities and all (parallel and branched) versions of history, known as dimensions, timelines or universes. The number of such realities are infinite.[DJW 1][DJW 2][DR 1]
History[]
This section needs expansion. You can help by adding information. |
Background[]
The multiverse arose when timelines changed and branched since the universe was created during the Big Bang at the beginning of time. There are also infinite other universes, similar or wildly different, which are completely independent of the Prime timeline.[3][1]
Alien Force[]
In Time Heals, after Gwen traveled back in time to stop Ben and Kevin from hacking the Omnitrix, she creates a timeline where she was murdered by Charmcaster, and Kevin was enslaved by Charmcaster and Ben was defeated by Hex. Earth is also taken over by Hex. She soon fixes her mistake by going back in time and stopping herself from doing that.
Ultimate Alien[]
In Ben 10,000 Returns, Eon travels to a possible future 20 years from Ultimate Alien's timeframe and attacks Ben 10,000's headquarters, where he criticizes Eon's decision to attack him alone. He is then attacked by Eon's minions, but Ben 10,000 eventually defeats Eon, believing he's destroyed.
Back in the present, Ben, Gwen and Kevin are investigating a signal the Ultimatrix found. They find the Hands of Armageddon, and when Ben touches it, it releases some of Eon's soldiers. They are soon beaten by the trio, only to disappear right after. In the future, Paradox tells Ben 10,000 that Eon is not dead and he is destroying alternate versions of Ben.
Gwen touches the Hands of Armageddon and reveals an alternate timeline which they don't recall. Paradox and Ben 10,000 arrives soon after. Ben 10,000 reveals he is a different future duplicate than from the one Ben met when he was 10 and Paradox explains cross-time to the team. Paradox informs them that the Hands of Armageddon is the source to their troubles. They take it out to destroy it. Not soon after, Eon and his minions arrive. It is soon revealed that Eon's minions are alternate Bens that he kidnapped, and that Eon is an alternate Ben. Eon reveals his plan to create new timeline where he is the only Ben Tennyson in existence. Soon enough, Eon is defeated when Jetray destroys the Hands of Armageddon, causing all of the timelines Eon altered to be restored to normal.
In Ben 10/Generator Rex: Heroes United, Ben was at a celebrity gig when a strange storm picked him up and dumped him into Rex's world, where he mistook Rex Salazar for an alien attempting to destroy Bellwood. However, he was also mistaken for an EVO, who Rex tried to cure, but both found that they were not what the other thought they were.
"Captured", Ben was taken back to Rex's with an unconscious Agent Six following a battle with an unknown enemy he had been chasing through the storm. While in the base, Ben learned of what was going on in that world, becoming confused by some facts, but generally grasping things are not going good.
Deciding to team up with Rex, Ben met Caesar, Rex' brother and learned that he had banished the Alpha nanite to the Null Void, thinking it was an empty dimension when in reality it's a prison for alien criminals.
Together, Rex and Ben teamed up to defeat Alpha. With Caesar's help, Ben entered the Null Void as a stop on the way back home, using Murk Upchuck to dump Alpha into the Null Void.
Omniverse[]
Ben Tennyson meets Ben 23 in the 23rd Dimension in Store 23, after accidentally entering Dimension 23 through Blarney T. Hokestar's interdimensional branch of Mr. Smoothy. Ben 23 proved to be a braggart and show-off who preferred to use his alien forms for publicity instead of altruism, and even gave Ben a few of his tips for crowd-pleasing. It's eventually revealed that the Intellectuary was the 23rd dimension's Azmuth and would have killed Ben 23 if not for Ben Prime's intervention. Ben 23 admitted that due to the death of his Grandpa Max, he ended up using fame and fortune to fill the void Max had left behind. His dimension's Azmuth consoled Ben 23, acknowledging that he had suffered greatly due to Max's death and promised to guide him well in his place.
In And Then There Were None, Eon joined forces with Vilgax to, as Eon believed, create an army of evil Omnitrix-wielders under Vilgax's control, which Eon achieved through gathering an army of evil Ben Tennysons from all across the multiverse and destroying those among the alternate Bens who refused to join. After Vilgax and Eon had five evil versions of Ben- Albedo, Bad Ben, Mad Ben, Benzarro, and Nega Ben- under their control, they went to the No Watch Timeline, with Eon and the evil Bens intending to destroy No Watch Ben since his reality's lack of an Omnitrix made it an unpredictable temporal wildcard. Paradox learns that Eon and Vilgax are abducting and brainwashing alternate Bens into serving them. He and Ben Prime travel to No Watch Ben's timeline, and are surprised that there is no Omnitrix in that Universe. They are confronted by Vilgax and Eon's evil Bens, who are countered by several alternate Bens. The evil alternate Bens partake in an all out battle rumble between them along with Ben 10,000, Gwen 10, and Ben 23.
Vilgax reveals his true plan is to wipe out every Ben of every dimension, minus No Watch Ben, and that includes Eon and the evil Bens as well. Using a Chronosapien Time Bomb, Vilgax wipes out all other Bens and their timelines. He then sets his sights on No Watch Ben, but he is saved by Paradox. Fortunately, before Ben Prime faded away, his Omnitrix was transferred onto No Watch Ben, and with guidance from Paradox, intends to fix all reality with it.
In And Then There Was Ben, Paradox and No Watch Ben set out to restore the multiverse, for start they go to the Prime timeline in the Chimeran Hammer. It is finally restored by No Watch Ben as Clockwork.

Trivia[]
- Literally, a multiverse is a collection of numerous universes, while an omniverse is a collection of all universes (and by extension all multiverses).[11][12]
- To Derrick J. Wyatt, a multiverse means the same thing as an omniverse.[DJW 1]
- The first use of the term "Omniverse" was as the title for Ben 10: Omniverse before being mentioned as a concept in the Reboot's Alien Worlds shorts.
- The Classic Continuity and the Reboot Continuity are part of a greater Cartoon Network multiverse.[13]
- Duncan Rouleau claims the Reboot is canon to the Classic Continuity as an alternate reality.[DR 2][DR 3] He also states that it is possible for Classic Ben and Reboot Ben to meet.[DR 4]
- The dimensions have names/nicknames like the Gweniverse.[DJW 16]
- Although alternative timelines exist, changes to the past caused by time travel have been shown to alter the future of the same timeline rather than creating a new timeline.
- Examples of this time travel method that alters the future instead of creating a new timeline can be seen in the episodes: Merry Christmas, Paradox, Time Heals, Ben 10,000 Returns (Ben 10,000 says that if they lose, the future ceases, not that it turns into another timeline), The Secret of Dos Santos, Animo Crackers, etc. Additionally, the game Ben 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks, the movie Ben 10: Race Against Time and Azmuth 10 Timeline also work with this time travel logic.
- Although the episode Ben 10,000 does not follow this logic, Professor Paradox calls that timeline cross-time,[2] suggesting that this timeline was not in fact Ben's real future, but rather a future identical to the one Ben would have had if I hadn't gone to the future when he was 10 years old.
- Derrick J. Wyatt believed that there is only one Null Void and Legerdomain shared across the Multiverse.[DJW 17][DJW 18]
- Certain dimensions or timelines have "numeric concatenation":[14] a property of reality wherein the same singular number will appear repeatedly and in completely random places.[15]
- Generally, the video games and/or comics aren't canon because they need an internal thematic core binding them. The comics and video games haven't always drawn from canon and are so disparate from each other it would be difficult to find the connective tissue providing that common core.[DR 6]
- Although the multiverse is usually referred to as alternative dimensions and timelines, not all universes presented during the series follow this pattern, for example, the universe closest (physically) to the main universe has counterintuitive laws of physics according to Paradox, the Forge of Creation itself functions as an alternate universe that is in no way derivative of the main universe. There are also other universes created by the Contumelia that have no relation to the main universe.
- During and after Ben 10: Omniverse's production, Derrick J. Wyatt came up with many alternate timeline concept ideas.[DJW 19]
- Irene 13 - A timeline where a woman named Irene gets the Omnitrix. When conceptualizing Irene 13, Derrick J. Wyatt wanted her to be creepy good[DJW 20] and only use aliens from the Anur System.[DJW 21][DJW 22]
- Clyde GO! - A timeline focusing on Clyde Fife and his Mark 5 Nanoshift Enabled Exo-Armor. "Go" is the Japanese word for five.[DJW 23]
- Brenda 10 - A timeline where a woman named Brenda, who is a gender-bent version of Ben, gets the Omnitrix.[DJW 24]
- Max 10 - A timeline where Max Tennyson gets the Omnitrix.
- Ben 100 - A timeline focusing on 20-year-old Ben at a crucial fork in the Prime Timeline. Depending on what he chooses to do, he can become either Ben 10,000 or Eon.[DJW 25]
- Azmuth 10 - A timeline where everything else has failed, so, as a very final resort, Azmuth goes back in time and gives his younger self the Omnitrix in hopes of totally rewriting the timeline.[DJW 26]
- Soviet Ben - A timeline where Ben Tennyson, who lives in the Soviet Union, gets the Omnitrix.[DJW 27]
- Nemetrix Ben - A timeline where Ben Tennyson is driven mad and feral due to wearing the Nemetrix.[DJW 28]
- Wild West Ben/Spaghetti Western Ben - A timeline where everything is in the Wild West setting, paying homage to the Westerns.[DJW 29] Ben Tennyson of this timeline, The Ben With No Name, would walk the line between good and evil but have a moral code.[DJW 30]
- Ben 10BC - A timeline where a caveman Ben Tennyson gets the Omnitrix.[DJW 31]
- Heroic Zs'Skayr - A timeline in which Zs'Skayr is or becomes good and decides to help Ben as Ghostfreak.[DJW 32]
- Benjamin XXIII - A timeline where Ben 23 grew up to become a superhero known as Benjamin XXIII. He started to call himself Benjamin XXIII after returning from a period of retirement.[DJW 33] He is like Conner4Real from the mockumentary musical comedy film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping[DJW 34] and uses some kind of future Hero Watch. Derrick J. Wyatt thought that maybe he will even create the massively powerful Hero Watch-Amacallit.[DJW 35]
- War Universe - A timeline where Ultimate Forms exist as natural species.[DJW 36][DJW 37]

Notes[]
- ↑ When asked about this location, Derrick J. Wyatt stated in April 2020 that it was a dead universe outside of normal spacetime.[DJW 3] He would later contradict this claim in June 2021, stating that it was the end of time.[DJW 4] As Professor Paradox states that Eon was trapped in the Prime timeline,[6] the wiki considers this to be the end of the Prime timeline.
- ↑ The events of Ben 10: Race Against Time were originally canon to the Prime Timeline.[DM 1] They have been retconned into an alternate timeline as of Ben 10,000 Returns.[BTP 1]
- ↑ In Race Against Time, Eon was a Chronian from the planet Chronia. This was retconned in Ben 10,000 Returns, in which he is revealed to be an alternate version of Ben Tennyson, making him a human from an alternate Earth.[2][DJW 10][DJW 11] The events of the movie, in addition to being heavily revised (aka retconned), would also now take place in an alternate timeline.[3][2] Thus, Chronians and Chronia were effectively erased from the proper canon of Ben 10.[DJW 12][BTP 1]
- ↑ Derrick J. Wyatt said that no backstory was ever written for Bad Ben.[DJW 13] However, Matt Youngberg stated in an Total Access commercial that Bad Ben has the same story as Ben Prime, with the difference being that he made bad choices instead of good ones.[MY 1]
