The Lucubra (pronounced Loo-coo-brah)[1] are Dagon's minions. One appeared in The Creature From Beyond, while many appeared as enemies of Sir George in Solitary Alignment.
Appearance[]
The Lucubra are quadrupeds with greyish teal gelatinous bodies. Their faces consist mostly of red, teeth-like markings in a circle. They can extend out of the sides of their head pairs of tentacles with red tips, which can interface with humans by touching the sides of their heads. A connection between a person and Lucubra is signified by their eyes glowing turquoise.
The Lucubra appear to range in size, one being as large as a dog, while another was several times larger than a human.[2]
Powers and Abilities[]
Lucubra have the ability to feed on the thoughts of beings, through interfacing with their tentacles. According to Gwen, Lucubra feed specifically on the energy from the parietal lobe (notable for activating during prayer or meditation), and feast "until there's nothing left".[3][1] Even if the Lucubra feeds for only a second, and even if their physical connection to their victim is severed, the Lucubra has placed its "hooks" in the victim.
The victim can then become the Lucubra's obedient servant, and either the Lucubra or Dagon can send telepathic commands to them; wherein the person's eyes will glow turquoise. A Lucubra can even control its victims from other dimensions, as one once did to Sir Winston after being sent back to its home dimension.[1]
Lucubra can fire a powerful laser beam from their faces and climb walls.[1]
Lucubra are strong enough to knock armored knights away with little effort.[1][2]
Lucubra are very durable, being able to take hits from the Forever Knights' weapons, Gwen's mana attacks, Kevin's physical attacks, Swampfire's flame attacks, and NRG's radiation attacks with no visible damage at all.[1] The largest known Lucubra was able to survive a seemingly endless amount of swords and spears lodged in its body.[2]
Lucubra are extremely agile, and can easily scale walls.[1]
Weaknesses[]
A Lucubra's remote influence over a victim appears to be based on concentration, as attacking one prevented it from commanding Gwen.[1]
A Lucubra cannot feed on or send commands to beings whose craniums are protected by certain types of materials, like iron.[1]
While Lucubra are durable, they are not indestructible, as smaller ones' bodies and tentacles can be chopped in half by a suitable-enough blade. In addition, a precise blow to the inside of their heads can kill even the largest Lucubra.[2]
Lucubra can be contained through magic.[1]
