Lord Decibel is a villain who first appeared in Don't Let the Bass Drop.

Appearance[]

Lord Decibel has a suit that acts as a form of communication when he uses his keyboard; it displays letters, numbers, and symbols on his mask thanks to a projector of some kind. The text displayed on his mask is colored in different shades of pink. He wears a brown outfit. He also wears metal gloves.

Personality[]

Lord Decibel himself is sadistic; he is seen enjoying the screams of the people who only came to see a concert. He's motivated by money and has notably asked for large amounts of money in a ridiculously short time for anyone to take it to him, showing him to be extremely impatient.

According to himself, Lord Decibel hates children.[3]

History[]

Ben 10[]

In Don't Let the Bass Drop, Lord Decibel attacked a DJ Duster concert and threatened to use his destructive music to separate the landmass from the rest of the continent if he wasn't paid one billion dollars in ten minutes. However, Ben and Gwen were at the concert, and tried to stop his plans. Lord Decibel, expecting trouble, used his keyboard to deploy a sound barrier, but this was proven to be futile thanks to the knowledge of Gwen. Decibel was eventually defeated thanks to the combined efforts of Ben as Heatblast and his cousin.

In The Sound and the Furry, Lord Decibel pretended to hold a concert at a ski resort, gathering a large crowd. He then threatened to use his sound waves to cause an avalanche which would bury the crowd, unless a one billion ransom were to be paid. Ben tried to stop him as Omni-Enhanced Stinkfly, but Decibel defeated him and triggered the avalanche. Ben tried several times to halt the avalanche, but he was continually prevented by Decibel. Eventually Ben used Omni-Enhanced Overflow to launch the avalanche over the crowd and directly on top of Lord Decibel, defeating him.

Claws (270)

Lord Decibel summoning his musical serpents

In The Claws of the Cat, Lord Decibel appeared at a beach party in Rio de Janeiro, accompanied by his two minions Treble and Bass, who introduced him as the night's entertainment. After failing to secure his ransom, Decibel intended to end the show by generating a tsunami to drown the beachgoers. Max took on his alter-ego DJ G-Pa and engaged Decibel in a duel of magic music, generating giant serpents made of sound to do battle. While evenly matched, Humungousaur managed to add in the extra power to blast Decibel away.

In Digital Quality, Lord Decibel plotted to force people into dancing forever, unless they paid him a ransom. Ben believed Kevin was somehow in on his scheme, but this turned out to not be the case when Kevin's CD turned out to be an ASMR disc to help him sleep. He was soon defeated by Omni-Kix Slapback, and with his visor shattered, entered a police car believing it was an escape vehicle.

SOS (378)

Lord Decibel sharing his plans with Helen

In Speed of Sound, Lord Decibel was shown to have acted as an anonymous benefactor for Helen Troy's Sonitrain. He made modifications to the Sonitrain without her permission so he could hijack it later. Ben and Gwen confronted him, and he proved formidable with his technology. He veered the Sonitrain off-course, but Omni-Kix XLR8 caught up to him. Using his abilities, Lord Decibel caught him in mid-air and overloaded the Omnitrix, transforming him into Omni-Kix Four Arms. The two fought on top of the train until Gwen and Helen severed his connection to it, and he was captured by Omni-Kix Four Arms.

In Mock 10, Lord Decibel appeared in Ben's daydream, where he falsely recalled haven easily defeated Lord Decibel as XLR8.

Powers and Abilities[]

Equipment[]

Lord Decibel has a suit that acts as a form of communication to his victims when he uses his keyboard. However, alongside his keyboard, he has created numerous other devices that help him control sound to a powerful degree. Powers gained by these machines include creating sound waves powerful enough to generate deep fissures within the ground, erecting sound-based walls, and other such abilities.

His list of inventions includes:

  • A sound system mixed with a hovercraft, letting him unleash sound waves that could cause an avalanche, create a sonic shield, and hover in the air using soundwaves.[4]
  • A much more powerful sound system that let him create a pair of snakes made out of sound.[1]
  • A portable sonic-based jetpack equipped with a device that let him hypnotically force people to dance using specific songs.[3]
  • The Sonitrain, a locomotive that moves "beyond the sound barrier" using sonic technology.[5]

Using the Sonitrain, Decibel was able to use this amplify his sonic powers, letting him charge his gauntlets with sonic energy to increase his punching power and unleash sonic projectiles.[5]

Decibel has even even developed the ability to transform sonic energy into the construct of a giant mech suit that he used as armor.[5]

  • Decibel's powers are similar to those of Marvel villains Klaw (forming sonic constructs out of sound) and Shocker (firing sonic energy from gauntlets).
  • Lord Decibel's sound technology may come from off-world.[DR 1]
