Lucien LaGrange is an illegal racer who first appeared in Need for Speed.

Appearance

LaGrange is a fair-skinned man with pale blonde hair and red sunglasses that shine in the shape of lightning symbols.

He's dressed in a red and black racing suit with a black mask, a white lightning symbol on his chest, and a white undershirt underneath.

Personality

“	I am the fastest! I am the greatest! I am LaGrange!	”
– LaGrange prematurely celebrating.

He only drives only for the thrill of the race without the regard to the lives of anyone or property. He is seen as a reckless driver by other people. In the eye of many fellow racers, he is seen as a dirty driver. Due to him being banned from the pro-speed chest club, and relationship failures, he enjoys the thrill of the race.

LaGrange is willing to put innocent people in danger, no matter what's the cost, he once put explosives on a train, just to prove he was faster than it. He will try to win a race no matter what, even if his car is totally destroyed. He once almost managed to throw Vin Ethanol off of a cliff, just to win a race.

He lives in an apartment and his rent is long overdue.

Vin Ethanol

LaGrange and Vin were once very great friends, even closer to being family. Over time, they became more rivals than friends. LaGrange would always use Vin, fooling him so he can win the race. He believes that Vin will always get over it since he never could stay mad at family.

History

Background

LaGrange was friends with Vin Ethanol since childhood. They would race with eachother, and soon lead to becoming illegal racers. LaGrange soon met other racers such as the Malachi Sisters and Dirty Dobs.

At some point, he was banned from the pro-speed chest club.

Ben 10

LaGrange first appears in Need for Speed, where he plots to dig up the old treasure lying within Yellowstone National Park in a race between the Malachi Sisters, Dirty Dobs and Vin Ethanol, with the winner being whoever finds the treasure first. However, he is eventually defeated, like the others, upon the intervention of Ben as Stinkfly and later as Overflow, despite his best efforts to rid him. At the end, an annoyed Overflow then begrudgingly saves him before falling to his death, and later arrested with the others.

LaGrange returns in Drive You Crazy, this time entering himself in a race against Ben (as Upgrade) after the former blows up Komal's vehicle. However, his recklessness soon leads to his defeat once more and is bested by Heatblast.

In High Stress Express, LaGrange becomes convinced that he must outrace a transcontinental bullet train, claimed to be the 'fastest vehicle ever' in order to regain the title for himself and his own race car. However, further competition soon arrives as Ben, who joins seeking the title for himself too. Despite the former's best efforts (even putting the lives of the train passengers at risk), he is once more thwarted, his car destroyed, by Omni-Enhanced Heatblast. Before being arrested, LaGrange swears that he will get vengeance.

In LaGrange Muraille, LaGrange competes against Vin Ethanol to see whose car can outrace the other and jump over the Great Wall of China. However, the latter is unaware that LaGrange is merely using him for his own personal benefits, especially once Ben arrives to race for himself in Glitch. Convincing Vin to rid Slapback, and later Heatblast, LaGrange soon turns and cheats the competition to ensure he wins, only to be stopped by Four Arms teaming up with the latter.

In Forever Road, LaGrange receives an Omnitrix Jammer from the Forever Knight, before the latter then sends him to the same muscle car race that Ben is planning to enter (on behalf of Phil). Using said device, LaGrange prevents Ben from accessing XLR8, thus forcing him to rely on the use of his other aliens to continue the race. Although seemingly winning the race, LaGrange is stopped by the arrival of Slapback, who manages to finally destroy the Remote Control - losing both the race and his partnership with the Forever Knight, who instead offers to invite Vin Ethanol, the winner of the race, in his place instead.

In Wheels of Fortune, LaGrange teams up with Kevin (as Dark Matter) in order to initially steal the other townsfolk's possessions, including Ben's Sumo Slammers Shirt, thus prompting him to give chase to them. However, shortly afterwards, LaGrange turns on Dark Matter, using the alien's powers as a means of his own energy source to fuel his car. Despite managing to shake off XLR8 and the escaped Kevin (now Quad Smack), he is once more chased by Humungousaur, Glitch and Rush, and is eventually stopped.

In Steam Fight at the OK Corral, LaGrange is briefly seen inadvertently receiving a photo of Kevin and Steam Smythe.

In Chicken In Chichen Itza, Part 2: The Wages of Fear, LaGrange returns with the promise of capturing the Quetzalcoatl and selling it to pay off his due rents. After swiftly dealing with XLR8, LaGrange manages to capture the truck transporting said creature, holding Mary Jo hostage as well. After defeating Heatblast and Glitch, a now-reformed Ben (having regained his confidence) stops LaGrange, using Omni-Kix Cannonbolt in order to free the Quetzalcoatl and force him to flee.

In Mock 10, LaGrange showed up in the Sonitrain, and ran into Kevin and Ben. He tells them about how his car, among other things, was stolen. Now he plans to hijack the train, and go the fastest anyone has ever gone. LaGrange uses a device to try and get the train moving, however he doesn't know how to work it. Kevin transforms into Skunkmoth and slams LaGrange's head onto the device, moving the train. Ben transforms into Jetray and stouts the controls. With the help of the two boys, they all went so fast that time froze around them. The three gentleman went their separate ways, LaGrange went to where Vin works, and "talked to him". He opened up to himself, and spoke to the universe.

Eventually the three met up again. Kevin states that everything was going fine until LaGrange got in the way. LaGrange points out that Kevin only wanted attention from Gwen, and tells him that love is but a hollow promise, that of which he learned years ago, and is why he only enjoys the thrill of the race. Kevin yells at him, saying that LaGrange drove so fast he scared himself. Kevin transforms into Skunkmoth and fights LaGrange. Eventually Ben figures out how to reverse the affect. The three puts aside their differences, and works together to unfreeze time. After they finish, the three go their separate ways, and LaGrange is arrested once more.

LaGrange is a skilled driver, being able to weave between cars at high speeds and even drive backwards. However, despite his proficiency, he prefers to win races through cheating.

LaGrange is surprisingly acrobatic, being able to leap onto the roof of his moving car.

Equipment

LaGrange owned a race car, which could use several gadgets to help him cheat. Among these were rockets, a hidden go-kart, boosters that could dissipate Stinkfly's goop, a Gatling gun that fires missiles, explosives, heat-seeking missiles, a flamethrower, ninja stars, springs, a laser cannon, spiked rims, a mechanical arm, oil, a mechanical claw, lasers, and inflatable wheels. The car was eventually stolen, followed by his bicycle and roller skates.

LaGrange was given a remote by the Forever Knight that allowed him to reverse Ben's XLR8 transformation, although it destroyed.

LaGrange used a second car, capable of using Dark Matter's energies as fuel. It was eventually totaled.

LaGrange used a steering wheel to take control of the Sonitrain, although it didn't work until Jetray hit it with a neuroshock blast.

Weaknesses

His mind can be so heavily focused on the race that he takes no consideration of the possible danger he got himself into, usually to the point of foolhardy recklessness.

• A running gag throughout the series is whenever someone says LaGrange's name, the screen zooms in on their eyes.
  • Another gag is people pronouncing LaGrange's name incorrectly.
• Much like Glitch, LaGrange works as a rideshare driver. On the rideshare app, he is ranked 0.5 stars out of 5.
• Despite being a Frenchman, LaGrange had not been in France prior to Wheels of Fortune.
• Ben estimated LaGrange to be around forty years old.
