– Kevin 11,000 to Devlin.[1] |
Kevin Levin, also known as Kevin 11,000, is one of Kevin's futures from an alternate timeline.[note 1][note 2]
Appearance[]
Kevin looks skinnier than his past self, his hair is longer, and he has an X-shaped scar on his chin. He also wears short-sleeved black armor.
Personality[]
Spending time in the Null Void worsened Kevin's condition, to the point where much of his selfishness and his pleasure in hurting others increased drastically, clearly exhibiting this with his newfound obsession in taking revenge on Ben Tennyson but also laughing maniacally at hurting his son. This obsession also affected how Kevin viewed others, becoming apathetic even to his family unless they are useful for his own gain. This was demonstrated when he didn't care about his own son Devlin or other innocent people being in harm's way. Kevin's one-track mind also made him develop some arrogance, as Kevin stated to his son that he already knows he is the best when Devlin thought Kevin's goal in attacking Ben was to prove his superiority.[1]
History[]
Background[]
Kevin managed to break out of the Null Void several times. During one of his breakouts, he had a son, Devlin with a woman from a Saturn colony.[pop-up 1][1]
During his time in the Null Void, Kevin absorbed various aliens, making him able to turn into a new monstrous hybrid form far more powerful than the original. He has also seemingly mastered his powers, as he is able to switch between his human and mutant forms at will, absorb powers without turning into his mutant form,[pop-up 1][1] and even access some of his alien powers in human form.
Ben 10[]
In Ken 10, Ben's son, Ken, celebrated his 10th birthday, and to commemorate the occasion, Ben gave him an Omnitrix of his very own. However, he equipped it with a limiter, unwilling to trust his son to defeat villains on his own. Ken soon befriended Kevin's son Devlin, and the same night Kevin 11 attacked. Unable to locate the Null Void Projector, which Ben had moved after the events of Ben 10,000, he retreated.
Ken, also unaware of the move, endeavored to find it on his own, only to unwittingly lead Devlin right to it. Devlin released his father from the Null Void but was soon heartbroken to learn that Kevin's only interest was fighting Ben, not seeing his own son. Kevin was ultimately defeated by the combined forces of Ben, Ken, and Devlin. Way Big, who had lost his temper when Kevin hurt Ken, viciously crushed Kevin 11,000 into the ground.
Although he appeared to be knocked out cold, Kevin was barely damaged by Way Big, getting up with a couple cricks. He asked Ben if the assault was the best he had but Devlin managed to sneak up behind him and trapped his father in a Null Void Containment Egg, which he then gave to Max.
Powers and Abilities[]
Kevin has the ability to absorb the energy of anything through his body at will and utilize it in various ways.
Kevin can absorb the DNA and powers of other lifeforms. He can also absorb someone's powers without mutating.[pop-up 1][1] Prior to escaping the Null Void in Ken 10, Kevin absorbed the powers of the aliens and other creatures trapped with him, becoming Kevin 11,000. This mutant form does not have the same setback as Kevin 11 due to him having mastered his absorbing powers and having absorbed all of the DNA and energy of the aliens and monsters he absorbed, including their life force.
Kevin can shift between his human and mutant forms at will and retains certain powers in his human form:
- He is strong enough to shatter Ken's pet into pieces by stepping on it.
- He is durable enough to withstand a blast from Max's Plumber rifle.
- He has enhanced speed, allowing him to cross several feet in a second.
- He can generate electricity, as shown when he shocked Max.
Weaknesses[]
All of the abilities Kevin absorbed are only 1/10 of their original strength, though he has access to any of those powers at any time.
Appearances[]
Ben 10[]
Season 4[]
- Ken 10 (first appearance)
Trivia[]
- The older Kevin became, the more his human DNA was restored.[pop-up 1][1]
- Kevin was designed by Thomas Perkins.[TP 1]
Notes[]
- ↑ The Omniverse crew brought back the Ben 10,000 from the Original Series instead of working on a new one like in Ultimate Alien.[DJW 1][DJW 2][DJW 3][DJW 4][DJW 5][DJW 6][DJW 7]
- This is due to:
- The executives' push for having everything more like the Original Series, which was the most successful of the franchise.[DJW 6]
- The crew's preference of the original Ben 10,000[DJW 5] over the Ultimate Alien portrayal.[DJW 7]
- Derrick J. Wyatt made several further statements to corroborate this, expanding on what was known from the Original Series, such as the backstories for the Biomnitrix and Kevin Levin invoking the plotlines of Ben 10,000[DJW 8] and Ken 10[DJW 9] respectively, the defining tragedy in Ben 10,000's life having now occurred at the age of 20,[DJW 10] "shifted" from the original age of 15,[pop-up 2][2] etc.
- The writing of the show also explicitly called this out, such as when Ben identified the future Dr. Animo in Animo Crackers as the same person who he encountered in Ben 10,000,[3] and other efforts were made throughout the last few seasons to align the story with the original future timeline, in terms of character designs, set designs and plot lines.
- This is due to:
- ↑ Ben 10,000 is stated to be Ben Prime's true future self.[DJW 4]
- This is evidenced in-show in Omniverse by the fact that both the Ben 10,000[4][5] and the future Dr. Animo[3] recalled characters and events from the present day. Chrono-Spanner also frequently visits present day with effects of his actions manifest in his present.[6] This would not be possible if these characters belonged to an alternate timeline.
- It was pointed out by fans that this created a plot hole with the Original Series, as Ben 10,000 was from an alternate timeline[7][8][pop-up 3][1] in which he never travelled to the future when he was 10, and consequently did not give Max a cake on his 60th birthday, while Ben Prime did.[2] Thus, Ben 10,000 did not recall the events of the episode from his younger self's perspective.[8][DM 1][DM 2][DM 3]
- Derrick responded to the matter by saying: "Your 'plot holes' are irrelevant. Time isn't completely fixed, it's shifting. Events can be subtly altered. But Ben 10,000 is the future for the Ben Prime timeline."[DJW 4] Therefore, it is an unintentional retcon by the Omniverse crew.
