The Hive was a group of mind-controlled humans thorough the Microchips who served their Queen towards total overtake of Earth.
History[]
Background[]
An unknown amount of time before the events of the movie, the Plumbers stumbled upon an unidentified bio-mechanical insectoid species that would come to be known as Microchips.
Max Tennyson and his right-hand man Dr. Victor Valadis examined thoroughly the newly found lifeforms only to later be deemed futile research too dangerous to continue by Max and simply be sealed away. Victor disobeyed Max and continued studying the Microchips in secret which resulted in him being subjugated by the Microchips. Upon being found, he was expelled from the Plumbers.

The Microchips soon began to spread all across the globe through him and his daughter.
The Microchips themselves shared a collective hivemind but they needed a queen to lead them in their endeavor to spread across the globe. They enthralled Elena Valadis and turned her into their queen, becoming partially Microchip. A plot was set to make a Decoy Queen that would lead a small invasion attempt so that Elena could get closer to the Plumbers and Ben's team for a better chance to take over the world.
