During their visit to Twin City, Ben and Gwen sign up for some Laser Town awesomeness, but when Ben is teamed up with Kevin, the two must overcome their differences if they are to end up on top!
Plot[]
In a place called Twin City, several twins are enjoying each others' company. Two twins, Debby and Jenny, are running together, and hop over two mime twins being pulled around by a pair of dogs. They then accidentally run into Ben, who is walking through a park with Gwen and Max. They apologize to him, making him believe he is seeing double. They explain that they are twins, and continue their run. Max walks up to Ben, and suggests that they have some fun, since they're in Twin City. Ben points out they can't, because everything in the city is made for twins. Gwen tries to remind him that she and him aren't pretty similar already, but Ben shrugs off her notion. Ben gets the idea to use Slapback to make a ton of "twins", so he always has someone to do something with. He imagines Slapback playing laser tag with himself, until Gwen interrupts his daydream.
Now at Twin City Laser Town, Gwen points out that they can just play laser tag in there. As they enter, Max leaves to go eat something, and the cousins psych themselves up for laser tag. Suddenly, two identical clerks place red and blue vests on them. Confused, Ben asks for an explanation, and the clerks explain that the color matches with their sibling or closest friend. Gwen asks why they have different colors, and one of the clerks elaborates, explaining that they paired Ben up with his brother. The clerks bring Kevin to Ben and Gwen, much to his annoyance. Kevin asks the clerk why they thought they were brothers, and he points out their similar watches. Frustrated, Kevin explains to Ben that he is there to win, although Ben doubts him and they start to argue. Meanwhile, Gwen wonders who she can team up with.
Ben tries to conspire with Gwen against Kevin by playing bad, but she reveals to him that she has a partner. Her partner, an old man in a trench coat and an eyepatch, introduces himself as Fang. She and Fang leave for the arena, and Kevin admits that Gwen is a savage. Ben decides the best course of action is to simply beat her and still figure out what Kevin is planning, annoying him. While choosing weapons, Ben asks Kevin if the Forever Knight is a part of his scheme, and Kevin tells him he's just there to play laser tag, and to leave him alone. Ben follows him into the arena and apologizes, remembering that Kevin, too, is a kid, and he is just used to fighting adults with nothing better to do. After Ben strokes Kevin's ego, the two agree to an alliance.
Meanwhile, Fang comforts Gwen, knowing she is troubled about facing Ben. He encourages her to shoot him when the time comes. The timer then counts down, starting the match. Ben and Kevin run through the arena, with Ben being hit multiple times. They hide behind cover, and Ben formulates a plan, only to find Kevin missing. Two bearded men wearing fur coats then drop down, and try to hit Ben. He runs away, as Kevin does the same from a pair of masked players. To even the odds, Kevin uses the Antitrix to turn into Quad Smack. He steals laser guns away from some players, quadrupling his firepower. Ben sees Kevin using Quad Smack, and decides to also transform. He slams down on the Omnitrix and transforms into Heatblast, who jumps into the action. He melts the players' weapons, as Quad Smack terrorizes the battlefield. Heatblast hits Quad Smack's vest, getting his attention. Heatblast accuses him of being up to something, and Quad Smack points out that Heatblast shooting him cost them their score.
From high above, Quad Smack is sniped by Gwen, wielding a large laser bazooka. She asks Fang (who is shooting at the masked players) if he has something more heavy duty, and he hands her a box containing a laser Gatling gun. She rains lasers down on Heatblast and Quad Smack, who promptly retreat. As they escape, Gwen hits the Antitrix, causing Quad Smack to become surrounded by red electricity. Regardless, he gets up, and shoves Heatblast aside as he runs for cover. Soon, he realizes that he is too big of a target, and that he can't revert to his human form. The twin teams all gang up on him, before Heatblast arrives on the scene. He surrounds Quad Smack and himself with flames, protecting them. Heatblast asks him what his deal is, but Quad Smack refuses to answer and barges out of the flames. Heatblast follows him.
Quad Smack tries to hide in a tube, but gets stuck. Heatblast laughs at his misfortune, and reverts back to Ben. Just as he taunts Kevin, he overhears on the announcements that there is a new high score, belonging to Gwen and Fang. The two skillfully defend their top spot, leaving Ben in awe. He crawls into the tube and negotiates with Quad Smack for a real truce, which he agrees to, until the game is over. Ben transforms into Four Arms, and he dubs their team-up "Sixteen Arms". Quad Smack makes fun of his inability to do basic math, but Four Arms ignores him in favor of picking up discarded laser guns. Quad Smack leads the way, and the two quickly use their extra arms to ascend the leaderboard. Four Arms then spots Gwen and runs towards her, annoying Quad Smack. Gwen notices Four Arms, and fires a large laser blast, fritzing the scoreboard. Fang joins her and hands her a laser gun to finish off Four Arms. Just as she fires, Quad Smack jumps in front of Four Arms, fixing his Antitrix and reverting him back to Kevin, as he falls to the ground. Four Arms mourns Kevin, wishing it could have been his "epic moment" instead. He reverts back to Ben, and Kevin tells him to chill, explaining his plan for Gwen to shoot the Antitrix. Gwen then interrupts the two, embarrassing Kevin.
In the lobby, Kevin notices the scoreboard shorted out. Gwen says what's important is not who won, but that they grew as people. One of the clerk fixes the screen, and Gwen celebrates knowing she and Fang won the match. Max congratulates her, and Ben tells Kevin its back to being enemies. Kevin questions his nemesis system, now that Gwen won. Fang tells Gwen she did a good job, and gives her his card. She notices it is a Laser Town business card, which Fang confirms, stating he is the janitor. He throws a smoke bomb down and poofs away, surprising Gwen, until she spots him nearby mopping the floor. Kevin leaves as Ben questions the prospect of his replacement. Max prompts Ben to congratlate Gwen on her victory, which she continues to celebrate.
Kevin: What made you even think we're even brothers? Clerk 1: Your watches! I thought it was a brother bond thing. Me and my brother have one. Clerks 1 & 2: (showing watches) Yeah, brothers!
Four Arms & Quad Smack: Yeah! Together, we are... Four Arms: Sixteen Arms! Quad Smack: Wow. The one time you do basic math, and it's still wrong!
Four Arms: Kevin, no! Why did you have to have such an epic moment!? I should've been the one to have such an epic moment! Nooooo- (reverts back to Ben) -ooooo! Kevin: Yo, chill! I just needed Gwen to shoot my Omnitrix again so I can glitch back to normal.
The names of several opponents on the final scoreboard may be in reference to crew members involved in this episode's production, such as Henrique Jardim (shortened to Henri), Luke Weber, April Amezquita, and Jeanette Jimenez (shortened to Jean).
This episode aired as the 100th episode in the U.S.
The scenes of Ben transforming into Heatblast up to Ben and Kevin were storyboarded by April Amézquita.[AA 1] There are several differences between it and the final episode:
In the storyboards, Ben calls Kevin a double crossing cheater.
A gag where a brother mourns his fallen twin before he is shot by Heatblast was cut.
In the storyboards, Heatblast's self-sabatoge reduces his points to 3. In the final episode, it is reduced to 43.
In the storyboards, on the scoreboard, instead of "Jean", it is "Andrew". Furthermore, Fang is referred to as "JFang", likely in reference to John Fang. Once it scrolls down, instead of "April", it is "Will".
In the storyboards, Quad Smack accuses Heatblast of shooting him, while in the final episode, they both instantly realize it is Gwen.
After having his Antitrix hit by Gwen's laser, a line where Quad Smack questions what's wrong with himself was cut.
A line of Heatblast noting how he can't hold off their opposition before realizing Quad Smack has disappeared was cut.
An action scene initially showing stills of Gwen before she teams up with Fang was entirely altered for the final episode.
