Gwendolyn "Gwen" Tennyson is the 10-year-old paternal cousin of Ben Tennyson. As Ben’s closest cousin, Gwen often acts as either the voice of reason or as Ben’s partner-in-crime.
Appearance[]
Regular Appearance[]
Gwen is a girl with short red hair, green eyes, and pale skin. She is commonly shown wearing a white elbow-length shirt under a blue t-shirt with a black cat face, light brown shorts, and blue and white striped socks. She also wears blue and white converse-like shoes, as well as a blue hairclip on her hair.
Occasional Appearances[]
During water-based activities, she wears a one-piece swimsuit and a pair of blue flip-flops. While in her swimsuit, Gwen wore her hair regularly, but in Ben 10,010, she wore her hair in a ponytail.
In Brief Career of Lucky Girl, she wore a Lucky Girl outfit.
While riding the Rustbuggy, she wore a blue helmet.
In Dreamtime, she wore pink pajama pants underneath her normal shirt.
In Welcome to Zombozo-Zone!, she wore a light blue princess gown with a darker blue bow on the front, a matching hat, puffy sleeves and blue flats.
In Beach Heads, she wore a light-blue and white swimming shirt, blue swimming trunks and blue flip-flops.
In Which Watch, she wore a blue spacesuit.
In Introducing Kevin 11, she wore a grey shirt, yellow apron, and yellow and grey socks.
In Big Ben 10, she wore a deerstalker and a coat over her ordinary clothes, as a homage to Sherlock Holmes.
In LaGrange Muraille, she wore a yellow hat.
In Heat of the Moment, Gwen wore a jacket with earmuffs, and a hat.
In Cirque-Us, she wore a light-blue gown with a blue ribbon belt. She also wore a blue dress.
In Wheels of Fortune, she wore an orange vest, reading glasses with a pink frame, retro 3D glasses over her forehead, and a navy blue cat pin.
In Roundabout: Part 1 and 2, she wore a high tech suit resembling a cat. However, the suit was later destroyed by Forever Knight.
Personality[]
Gwen is a remarkably smart and quick-witted girl who is the mastermind behind nearly all of her cousin's schemes against his enemies. She plays an active role as the brains of Team Tennyson. She is also wise beyond her years and often gives Ben advice that help him in many of his battles against villains.
Although she and Ben have many disagreements, Gwen often finds a way to get along with him. She is respectful and friendly towards people in general, but she is not afraid to make sarcastic comments towards those she disagrees with.
Gwen can be a bit tomboyish because of how she acts and speaks sometimes. Even though she is usually confident in her abilities, she still has insecurities about not being useful to Team Tennyson.[5] These insecurities soon leads her to join Zombozo's crew. However, she got over them after Ben started giving her credit.[6]
Gwen has an affinity for science, things from the 80s and 90s, space, and geek culture. Her favorite show in particular is Lucky Girl.[7]
Gwen is infatuated with Ryan Sez, and will do anything to get his attention, to little success.

Family[]
Ben Tennyson[]
Gwen and Ben get along very well. Despite their arguments, they maintain a strong, healthy relationship with each other. Gwen often tries to help Ben fight, but Ben usually ignores her advice and rushes headfirst into battle.
Gwen sometimes partakes in Ben's mischievous behavior, acting as his partner-in-crime. For example, when they snuck into a wrestling tournament, Gwen played as his cornerman.[8] Nevertheless, Gwen cares for her cousin, as she jumped into a volcano just to save Ben from Vilgax.[9]
Gwen is quite forgiving, considering she was more worried than angry at Ben for running away.[10]
Gwen and Ben both argue over other inconsequential things, which affects how effectively they work together.[11] Gwen can have trouble taking Ben seriously, as she did not believe Ben about Frightwig until she found out for herself in All Wet.[12]
Because of Ben's abilities, Gwen believed that she was being overshadowed and felt less useful in the field than Ben. These insecurities were what prompted her to join Zombozo and fight against Ben. Ben and Gwen were able to talk it out, and Ben started giving Gwen more credit.[6]
Max Tennyson[]
Max mostly takes Gwen's side when Ben and Gwen argue. They share a strong team dynamic, as they often play a prominent role in helping Ben defeat his adversaries. Max and Gwen are also pretty playful with each other, as shown in Reststop Roustabout when Max and Gwen were playing outside with flags.
Enemies[]
Charmcaster[]
Charmcaster harbors intense hatred and jealousy toward Gwen, though this is not reciprocated. Charmcaster tries to take Gwen out on multiple occasions, but fails each time.
In The Charm Offensive, Gwen helped Charmcaster after seeing she was being used by Michael Morningstar. Knowing that she is acting out of the trauma created by past abuse, Gwen continues to try to help her change her ways no matter how difficult Charmcaster's grudge makes it for her.[DR 1]
Kevin Levin[]
Gwen seems to be oblivious to Kevin's crush on her. She thinks he is a lost pet and thinks of him as a possible project.[DR 2] Gwen doesn't share the rivalry that Ben and Kevin have.
In Adrenaland Jr., Gwen felt sympathy for Kevin after hearing about how no one ever took him to Adrenaland. After all three of them went on a rollercoaster ride together, Kevin balled up a pic of the three having fun. Gwen still felt sorry for what was going on with Kevin, who secretly saved the picture to keep.
In Ben 10 Versus the Universe: The Movie, Gwen attempts to help Kevin reform and be a hero, even though Kevin's style of fighting is considerably more violent and unrestricted than Ben's, something that carries over to the future, as seen in Ben 10,010.

Powers and Abilities[]
Gwen has enhanced agility and acrobatics,[13][6] being able to complete an obstacle course and outpace adult competitors.[14] Because her skills have gotten better upon learning a new martial arts branch,[15] she is now agile enough to dodge the Clocktopus' attacks for a while.[16]
Gwen is remarkably intelligent for her age, being skilled with technology and performing quite well academically.[17][18]
Gwen has shown to be very strong for her age, managing to pull Hex out without any problems while Ben was in his body.[19]
Gwen is prone to succeed when trying new things, often picking up new hobbies.
Gwen is slightly more durable than an average human.[5]
Gwen can speak pig Latin.[2]
Gwen is able to eat over 100 pancakes.[20]
For a few moments, Gwen already used magic[21][22] despite not developing or learning any magical powers.[DR 3][DR 4] However, Gwen showed no interest in developing magic powers until she learned that alternate counterpart from Alien Force Ben's and Original Series Ben's dimensions had magic powers.[23]
Equipment[]
While Ben was in his body, she equipped the Titan Gauntlets, he gained enhanced strength.[19]
Grey Matter created a glider for Gwen from the parts of a Drone and Gwen's Glider. This glider would be destroyed by Vilgax.[24]
When the timeline was temporarily changed, Gwen had access to the Omnitrix.[25]
Gwen used a cat-motif suit that was given to her by Phil,[26] though it was later destroyed by Forever Knight.[10]
As Pirouette, she used a blue hammer to fight Humungousaur.[6]
Gwen was given a wristband-like device by Maximilian, which can generate a glowing green disk-like projectile that behaves like a frisbee.[23]
Weaknesses[]
Even though Gwen is slightly more durable than an average person, her strength still has limits.
Given her age, there is a limit to Gwen's intelligence, as she can be prone to making as many mistakes as Ben.
Gwen was afraid of snakes until her first ordeal with King Koil.[27]
Gwen has a strong hatred for clowns.[28]
Gwen is vulnerable to Nanny Nightmare's Regressive Baby Powder.[29]
Gwen can be controlled by Zombozo's hypnosis equipment.[30][31][32][33]

- Gwen is 7 seconds older than Ben.[34]
- Gwen occasionally has podcasts with Tim Buktu. Max sometimes features as a guest on some podcast episodes.[35]
- She is notably nicer to Ben than her Classic Continuity counterpart was in the Original Series.
- Unlike her Classic counterpart, she doesn't express her crush on Kevin and pretends to be completely clueless about his feelings for her. Even when Ben repeatedly talks about it, she denies it as one of his bad jokes.
- Gwen's favorite color is blue.[26]
- Unlike her Classic Continuity counterpart, Gwen is left-handed,[31] afraid of clowns,[28] and is not an Anodite.
- Gwen likes cats, as evidenced by her shirt, the battle suit Phil gave her and her depiction as an anthropomorphic cat during Ben's second story.[36]
- Prior to Rath of Con, Ben believed that the cat design on her shirt was a beetle.
