Upchuck is the Omnitrix's DNA samples of the Perk and the Murk subspecies of Gourmand from the destroyed planet Peptos XI[3] and currently Peptos XII.[4][DJW 1]
Appearance[]
Ben as Perk Upchuck[]
Perk Upchuck is a vaguely humanoid amoeba-like creature with green skin, six sprout-like growths on the back of his head, a dark-green patch of skin on his head, light-green skin on his face and belly and a crooked teeth overbite. He has whisker like lines on his face, and a green tail.
In the Original Series, Perk Upchuck had white eyes and wore a black open-front suit with white over-sleeves and white bands around his legs and white padding under his three-toed feet. He wore the original Omnitrix symbol on his left hand.
In Omniverse, 16-year-old Perk Upchuck does not wear clothes and his eyes are recolored green. He wears the Omnitrix on his stomach.
11-year-old Perk Upchuck looks almost the same as the Original Series, but his eyes and original Omnitrix symbol are recolored green and he now has bare feet with short claws.
Ben as Murk Upchuck[]
Murk Upchuck is a vaguely humanoid amoeba-like creature with swampy-green skin, a tanned stomach and muzzles, black sprouts and black-green spots on his tail, limbs, and back. His eyes are sharp and green, he has whisker-like lines, his teeth are more aligned with visibly sharp canine teeth and his tail is short and straightened, as opposed to Perk Upchuck's curled tail. Gwen as Murk Upchuck shares these traits.
In Heroes United, Murk Upchuck's black stripes on his face were longer, reaching his mouth, and he only had two lines instead of three. His claws were attached to his hands through finger stubs.
In Omniverse, Murk Upchuck resembles his previous design, except that his claws are longer and bigger, his sprouts are brighter, and he has less spots on his body. He now has only two teeth in the shape of an underbite, and the markings on his face are thinner and contained by the face, no longer spanning the head.
Murk Upchuck wears the original Omnitrix/Ultimatrix/Omnitrix symbol on his stomach.
Mad Ben as Mad Perk Upchuck[]
Mad Ben's Perk Upchuck has skin coloring that looks more like that of a Murk Gourmand. His teeth are now mirrored, and he wears a black helmet with a spike and orange glasses on it and spiked shoulder pads that are connected. He has orange bandages around his wrists, the spikes on the pads are orange, and the strap connecting the pads goes around the Omnitrix, which is on his chest. His eyes and Omnitrix are orange.

Both Perk Upchuck and Murk Upchuck have the same abilities; neither of them has abilities exclusive to any one Upchuck.[DJW 2]
Upchuck has three very strong, adhesive tongues[TP 2][note 1] that can stretch to great lengths, allowing them to latch onto large objects and reel them in with relative ease. Upchuck's tongues can also be used as whips.[note 2] Upchuck's mouth can stretch, allowing him to swallow objects larger than himself. He is connected with a trans-space bladder dimension where Gourmands store all the "food" they eat. Upchuck is connected to the Gourmand species and can sense any danger to his people through his stomach.[3][note 3]
Upchuck can eat solid matter, energy, such as the Sub-Energy[6] and a Crystalsapien's energy beams[7] and liquids, such as the Mr. Smoothy Mascot's smoothie blasts.[8]
Upchuck can eat living creatures such as tigers,[3] Crabdozers[2] and even Celestialsapiens.[DJW 3] In the case of Celestialsapiens, they would either be digested or spat back out.[DJW 3]
Items ingested by Upchuck can be converted into explosive balls of green[note 4] vomit (also referred to as loogies) that can be expelled with great accuracy. The explosive power of these "loogies" depends on the chemical composition and overall size of what Upchuck ate to create them.[pop-up 2][10] Upchuck can also make his "loogies" curve like a frisbee.[10]
Upchuck is able to fly by propelling himself with his explosive vomit and even survive in the vacuum of space, as demonstrated by various Gourmands.[3]
Upchuck has developed jaws, diamond-hard teeth, and a gastrointestinal tract that allows him to eat almost any material,[merch 3] including virtually any object all the way up to Ascalon.[DJW 4]
Upchuck is able to take a surprising amount of punishment for a creature of his size, taking the force of a moving car impact, as well as surviving after being thrown through a wall.[11]
Upchuck can jump surprisingly high for his size, as demonstrated when he was able to fully jump over Thunderpig to eat his energy flail.[12] Upchuck also has enhanced speed and reflexes.[12][13]
Upchuck can carry around objects and living creatures in his stomach, such as the Alpha Nanite's container and a Galvan, and release them without having to turn them into explosive vomit.[14][15]
Upchuck can spit out slime, which can be slippery for Arburian Pelarotas. This slime is also capable of melting ice.[16]
Weaknesses[]
There is a limit as to how much Upchuck can fit in his mouth, as beings as massive as To'kustars would have to be chopped up into bite-size chunks in order to be eaten by him.[DJW 5]
If Upchuck ingests enough matter[17][18] or a powerful enough energy,[6] they can be difficult for him to hold down and not spit out, causing his stomach or cheeks to inflate and severely reduce his mobility. Similarly, if energy is able to explode within Upchuck's mouth, it will also cause him to immediately inflate.[19]
Upchuck may struggle to eat living creatures, such as tigers and Evolved Panuncians, as their movement inside his stomach can cause him to regurgitate them.[3][2]
Upchuck's hunger can be used against him, as he can easily be swayed from any task with the simple promise of a tasty treat.[merch 3]
Upchuck can be temporarily immobilized by a Necrofriggian's ice breath until he thaws himself free using his acidic slime.[16]
In the Original Series, Upchuck was unable to consume human food.[11][pop-up 3][1] However, this is no longer true as of Omniverse, as he can now eat human food as well as everything else.[DM 1][DJW 6][DR 1][note 5]

- Perk Upchuck first appeared in The Visitor, where he was unlocked by Xylene and defeated the Mechadroid.
- In Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix, Perk Upchuck was defeated by Myaxx.
- In Ben 4 Good Buddy, Perk Upchuck battled the Road Crew and was defeated by Turbine.
- In Ben 10 vs. Negative 10: Part 2, Perk Upchuck defeated the Red Knight and Sir Driscoll and accidentally destroyed Mt. Rushmore in the process.
Five Years Prior to Omniverse[]
- In Evil's Encore, Perk Upchuck stopped Dr. Animo's control of the Plumber Base and accidentally destroyed Mt. Rushmore in the process for the second time in a row.
- In From Hedorium to Eternity, Perk Upchuck accidentally broke one of Mr. Baumann's car windows.
Alien Force[]
- Murk Upchuck first appeared in War of the Worlds: Part 1, where he was unlocked by the Master Control. Murk Upchuck battled an army of DNAliens and unsuccessfully attempted to destroy the Hyperspace Jump Gate alongside his teammates before switching into Way Big.
- In Vengeance of Vilgax: Part 2, Murk Upchuck fought and captured the escaped Chromastone.
- In In Charm's Way, Murk Upchuck defeated Charmcaster's giant animated Mr. Smoothy.
Ultimate Alien[]
- In Duped, Ben #3 used Murk Upchuck to battle Urien, but was defeated.
- In Ben 10,000 Returns, Perk Upchuck was re-unlocked by Ben 10,000.
- In The Purge, Murk Upchuck was defeated by the Forever Knights.
- In Ben 10/Generator Rex: Heroes United, Murk Upchuck ate the Alpha Nanite's container to transport it out of Rex's dimension.
- In Inspector #13, Gwen as Murk Upchuck helped rescue Ben.

Omniverse[]
- In Tummy Trouble, Upchuck appeared four times. First, Perk Upchuck defeated Nyancy Chan's tigers. Later, both Upchucks helped settle peace negotiations between the Perk and Murk Gourmands. Lastly, Perk Upchuck helped eat Peptos XI with the other Gourmands.
- In Store 23, Murk Upchuck was one of several aliens Ben Prime was showcasing for Ben 23.
- In A Fistful of Brains, Perk Upchuck was defeated by Ultimate Albedo.
- In For a Few Brains More, Perk Upchuck ate Crabdozer before spitting out Ultimate Panuncian.
- In The Rooters of All Evil, Perk Upchuck fought the Rooters.
- In No Honor Among Bros, Perk Upchuck defeated Rook at the Golden Fist Tournament.

Ben 10: Protector of Earth[]
Perk Upchuck is a playable alien character in Protector of Earth. He is unlockable with a cheat on the DS version. He deals heavy damage to regular enemies and mini bosses, but not to boss enemies.
Ben 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks[]
Murk Upchuck is a playable alien in the game, replacing both Alien X and Cannonbolt in the Nintendo DS version.
Due to the Omnitrix rebooting after Ben's abuse of the quick-change feature during his battle against Vilgax's forces, Murk Upchuck was temporarily locked until Ben's arrival in the Null Void, where both Murk Upchuck and Jetray are re-unlocked.
Murk Upchuck is able to consume any enemy projectile and spit it back as a green glowing energy ball. He is the recommended alien during the battle with the animated Mr. Smoothy mascot.
Ben 10: Omniverse[]
Perk Upchuck is a playable alien in the game (by 11-year-old Ben only). He is an exclusive for the DS and 3DS version.

Etymology[]
Upchuck's name is a pun of the verb "upchuck", which means to vomit, referencing his abilities.
The Perk prefix is named after Thomas Perkins, who designed Upchuck's appearance in the Original Series.[DJW 7][DJW 8][TP 3]
The Murk prefix is named after Glen Murakami, who redesigned Upchuck for Alien Force and Ultimate Alien.[TP 4][DJW 8]
Trivia[]
- Like Arctiguana, Buzzshock, Frankenstrike, and Snare-oh, Murk Upchuck appeared in Omniverse, but he did not appear in A New Dawn.
- The out-of-universe reason reason Murk Upchuck had fewer appearances than Perk Upchuck in Omniverse is because Derrick J. Wyatt believed "Perks are the best Upchucks".[DJW 9]
- Upchuck is one of the five aliens who have appeared in every series in the Classic Continuity; the other four are Cannonbolt, Diamondhead, Way Big, and Ghostfreak.
- Murk Upchuck is the first alien in Alien Force to not have the Omnitrix on his chest. Instead, the symbol was on his stomach.
- Perk Upchuck and Bullfrag are the only aliens to have been manually unlocked by entering a code into an Omnitrix.
- In every video game that Upchuck appears in, he is exclusive to the DS and/or 3DS versions.
- Although Murk Upchuck only appeared twice in Omniverse, a toy for him was made. Derrick told Cartoon Network consumer products that they were making a toy for the wrong Upchuck, but they said it was too far along to change.[DJW 10]
- Upchuck is the only known Omnitrix alien who can switch between the different races of his species.[3][DJW 11] Azmuth's reasons for including both subspecies are unknown.[DJW 12]
- Upchuck would have been the real winner of the loogie contest in Back With a Vengeance had Ben unlocked him prior to the events of the episode.[pop-up 4][20]
- Upchuck's Original Series design was made by Thomas Perkins,[TP 3] who envisioned him as a vaguely humanoid amoeba-like creature. He was always supposed to be translucent,[TP 5] and had a translucent tummy, but since that detail did not appear in the series, fans have mistaken him to be a humanoid frog/toad.[TP 1]
- Thomas designed Perk Upchuck with three tongues, but he is commonly depicted with four tongues, in the series and official artwork, and on his battle version toy.[TP 2] He is also described as having four tongues on his bio on the Cartoon Network website[CN 1] and the Ben 10 Alien Force: Volume 6 DVD.[merch 2]
- Upchuck's Omniverse designs were created by Derrick.[DJW 16] Unlike most aliens featured in Omniverse that had clothes in the Original Series, Perk Upchuck was unclothed as Derrick thought he appeared cuter and more uncivilized naked.[DJW 17]
