Element X is a rare[1][2] mineral substance.
Appearance[]
Element X typically looks like a small, jagged pink rock, and usually is kept in a protective tube of hard glass with metal caps.
Functions[]
When combined with Bicenthium Alloy (the alien name for iron ore), Element X creates an explosive powerful enough to obliterate an entire solar system.[3] However, the two can only be bound together with an enormous amount of heat,[4] such as that from an industrial forge; and Element X is useless by itself,[5] only hot to the touch.[6]
If the iron ore is not absolutely pure, such as when found raw in a mine, a high-velocity collision with Element X will still generate an explosion, but at a much smaller scale; though still enough to leave a massive crater and severely injure anyone caught in it, including aliens as durable as Detrovites.[2]
Element X can be used as a power source for certain ships, such as Sheelane's.
Both Element X's explosive nature and rarity can attract attention from alien criminals, such as the likes of Vulkanus.
History[]
Background[]
Element X could be found on the planet Thalassia prior to its destruction. It has since become very rare.
Ben 10[]
In The Galactic Enforcers, a sample of Element X was stored in a secure facility in space, until it was stolen by Vulkanus and SixSix, for the purpose of combining it with Bicenthium Alloy and holding the galaxy for ransom.
The two landed on Earth in Pittsburgh in search of the ingredient. They managed to find a strip mine and steal from it industrial containers full of iron, which they then brought to a steel mill to use its forge to melt the iron down. Once the purification of the iron was complete, Vulkanus nearly successfully poured the sample of Element X into the mixture, but the Galactic Enforcers and Ben Tennyson (as Cannonbolt) knocked it out of his hands and kept it away long enough for the Enforcers to trap the two criminals.
Five Years Prior to Omniverse[]
In a flashback in The Ballad of Mr. Baumann, Mr. Baumann made a transaction with a younger Tentacle Vendor in exchange for some Element X. He took it to a mine where Sheelane was hiding and surprised her with it, as her ship's supply of Element X was dwindling. However, Vulkanus interrupted their reunion, and stole Sheelane and the fresh container of Element X. Alongside Mr. Baumann and Max, Ben (as Diamondhead) chased Vulkanus down, distracted him, and stole back the container. Diamondhead then lodged Sheelane's smaller sample in Vulkanus' back, and then shot him upward with crystals. Vulkanus hit a ceiling of the mine containing veins of iron ore, causing a massive explosion that obliterated his entire body except for his head.
Omniverse[]
In The Ballad of Mr. Baumann, Vulkanus returned to Sheelane's ship with his minions to steal her supply of Element X. However, he was again foiled by Ben and Mr. Baumann.
