– Diamondhead.[5] |
Diamondhead is the Omnitrix's DNA sample of a Petrosapien[6][7] from the planet Petropia.[8][9]
Appearance[]
Ben as Diamondhead[]
Being a silicon-based life form,[10][9] Diamondhead's body is composed entirely of pale green/blue crystals, which are of a very tough and durable diamond-like substance.[MW 1] He sports four crystal shards on his back and has a sharp head.
In the Original Series, Diamondhead had yellow eyes and wore a sleeveless uniform that was black on the right half and white on the left with a black patch on the left shoulder where the original Omnitrix symbol was.
In Back With a Vengeance, Diamondhead wore a yellow raincoat.
In Destroy All Aliens, Diamondhead looked the same as in the Original Series, except his eyes had jewel-like facets and his outfit had detailed textures.
In Race Against Time, Diamondhead's skin was semi-translucent. His skin was a darker shade of green while his bodysuit is more metallic with some patterns of spandex.
In Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, Diamondhead's lower body, torso, and the top of his head were similar to Chromastone's, consisting of an indigo rock which has black lines and dots over it. There were six crystal shards on his back instead of four and he also sported two more on the front of his chest. His eyes were green and he wore the original Omnitrix/Ultimatrix symbol on his chest. Gwen Prime as Diamondhead shared these exact same traits.
In Heroes United, Diamondhead had crystal blades on his forearms and his crystal skin looked more realistic due to being drawn in Generator Rex's art style. He also had a vertical black line in the middle of his face.
In Omniverse, Diamondhead has sleeveless clothing that is all black with one large green stripe down the middle up to his belt, and wears black pants. He has a green belt with white stripes on which he wears the Omnitrix symbol. Diamondhead no longer bears the crystals on his chest, and the crystals on his back have also grown in length. His jaw is larger, he wears black shoes that are green on the bottom, and there are now only two crystal shards on his back. His arms and shoulders also seem to have much more girth.
11-year-old Diamondhead looks almost the same as in the Original Series, but the left side of his suit is missing the black patch around the Omnitrix symbol and the crystals on his back, as well as his jaw, are bigger. His eyes are green and the Omnitrix is recolored.
Kevin as Diamondhead[]
Kevin's Diamondhead looked the exact same as Ben's did in the Original Series, but without a black patch on the left side of his uniform. He also lacks an Omnitrix symbol.
Gwen as Diamondhead[]
Gwen as Diamondhead has darker and shinier crystals, thinner arms, a more rounded body, no shards on her back, and a more square head. She wears a uniform like Ben's Diamondhead in the Original Series, except it is half dark blue, half light blue. She wears the original Omnitrix symbol on the left side of her chest.
Ben 10,000 as Diamondhead[]
Ben 10,000's Diamondhead's diamond shards on his back were bigger. He wore a black sleeveless shirt, white pants and black boots, and the Omnitrix symbol on the center of his chest.
Albedo as Negative Diamondhead[]
Negative Diamondhead looked exactly like Ben's Diamondhead in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, except his eyes and Ultimatrix symbol were recolored red.
Gwen 10 as Diamondhead[]
Gwen 10's Diamondhead almost looks the same as her non-canon counterpart but is somewhat slimmer and is more bluish colored. Her eyes and original Omnitrix symbol are pink and she has a hairclip just like Gwen 10. Her outfit on the left side is different, as she now has a black patch on her left chest and a blue cat logo around her Omnitrix symbol. Similar to Gwen 10's pants, her own come halfway up her calf, and she wears black shoes.
Mad Ben as Mad Diamondhead[]
Mad Ben's Diamondhead has an almost completely black Mad Ben-style outfit with an orange belt, a small orange cross on his chest, and orange bandages on his forearms, thighs, and shins. His body is composed of pale blue crystals and like Mad Ben's Rath, he has silver spike pads with orange spikes on his knee joints, thighs, forearms, shoulders, and feet. He lacks the rear head spike that Ben Prime's Diamondhead has, but has a Mohawk consisting of three spikes instead. His Omnitrix is on his chest and colored orange, like his eyes.
Powers and Abilities[]
Diamondhead has the power of crystallokinesis, allowing him to manipulate the crystals that his species are composed of: he has the power to summon formations of these crystals to erupt from underneath any ground surface.[11] He can control the rate and direction in which they grow or multiply to create various kinds of constructs, such as pillars or spikes. He can even make them levitate by controlling microscopic mineral particles in the air.[5][DM 1][Bandai 1] Additionally, Diamondhead is capable of entrapping enemies in crystals,[12][13] and can generate crystals within objects and cause them to spike out, as demonstrated by Tetrax on a Mechadroid.[14] Furthermore, Diamondhead's crystals can be made to completely block sonic attacks.[15]
Diamondhead has the ability to manipulate the structure of his physiology at will, allowing him to form structures on his own body, such as a large spike which was sharp enough to cleanly slice a falling tree in half,[16] or for protection, as demonstrated when Diamondhead formed crystals around the Omnitrix to stop Malware from grasping it.[13] He can also use this technique to form his limbs into crystalline weapons such as blades,[17] bludgeons,[18] or a pickaxe, the latter demonstrated by Ultimate Kevin.[19] Diamondhead's blades are sharp enough to cut through a cement truck in one swipe[Bandai 2] or turn a car into confetti in a matter of seconds.[AF Mini Bible 1] Diamondhead can also alter the shape and size of his arms and hands, as demonstrated by Mad Ben.[20] He can extend his arms very far, which allows him to create ramps for others or to propel himself upwards by pushing against the ground.[21][20] He can also easily regenerate broken pieces of his body.[22]
Diamondhead can fire crystal shards sequentially out of his hands.[23][24][22] Usually, these shard projectiles are small, but Diamondhead can also fire out large chunks of crystals, as demonstrated by Mad Ben.[20] They can also be made explosive on contact.[5] Additionally, Diamondhead can remotely alter the shape of the crystals he produces to a very precise degree, allowing him to create spike clusters,[15][25] protective walls or shields,[11] ramps of various curvature,[26][27] moving platforms,[15][28][29] or even a giant open hand to capture large falling objects,[30][Dream Info] all by either summoning crystals from the ground, or sometimes by firing out shards that grow into which. Being that he can grow these with great speed, Diamondhead can stand on his emerging crystals to launch himself or opponents in the air[5][25] or to ride on like a board.[31][25]
Apart from just forming weapons attached to his body, Diamondhead can also create independent, fully-formed crystal objects, such as an anchor on a chain,[15] a shield,[32][27] and a sword.[33]
Diamondhead's crystalline body resembles a living prism, allowing him to deflect most energy beams[CN 1] up to and including the full energy of an orbital plasma cannon.[Bandai 1] This allows him to render weapons similar to lasers useless by simply refracting.[pop-up 1][16] Similarly, rays generated by dimensional transporter devices will reflect off of Diamondhead's body.[34][35] In addition to refracting, Diamondhead can also absorb energy.[pop-up 1][16][24] However, there is a limit to the amount of energy he can absorb.[DR 1][36][37] While Diamondhead was bonded with Crystalsapien DNA, these absorption abilities were enhanced.[AF Mini Bible 1]
Diamondhead is quite strong,[MW 2] strong enough to be a match for Rex and his BFS,[34] drag a cage holding a Gracklflint across Undertown,[3] hold open Slamworm's mouth,[22] and break his own crystals.[20] He can also dig very well through solid surfaces by turning his arms into sharp spikes, seen when he unearthed Corrodium from under the floor of a building.[38]
Due to the natural density of his crystalline body, Diamondhead is extremely durable; he withstood multiple blows and energy beams from Vilgax's large Attack Robot Mechadroid,[16] multiple punches from Four Arms,[1] survived the explosion of a factory at close range,[39] took a blow from Sunder's axe with just his hand (said axe effortlessly destroyed part of a large building),[40] fell from the top of Charmcaster's castle after being hit by an energy beam from her and Michael's combined strength,[41] and being punched by Vilgax in his Malware armor from Galvan Prime to Galvan B. This incident also shows that Diamondhead can survive in the vacuum of space.[17]
Diamondhead can survive underwater.[7]
Diamondhead can quickly burrow through the ground.[4]
Because he is made out of crystals that age very slowly, Diamondhead's body is very resistant to time rays that accelerate his aging. Ben learned this when being saved from Eon's time rays by Ultimate Ben using Diamondhead's powers.[42] Additionally, Diamondhead is immune to the acid from a Slammoid.[22]
Because Diamondhead is a super dense silicon-based alien, he is immune to Xenocite possession.[43]
Diamondhead is resistant to fire and heat, such as that generated by a Pyronite, much like an ordinary diamond.[1] Diamondhead can also survive unscathed in magma.[DR 2]
Diamondhead's eyesight is refractive.[Bandai 2]
Diamondhead is able to sneeze out tiny sharp crystals from his mouth.[44][9]
Weaknesses[]
Diamondhead is especially weak to sonic vibrations, such as from a Loboan's sonic howls[28], or an Evolved Sonorosian's Sonic Disks,[45] both of which can render him unconscious. Tetrax also used a vibrating device to completely disassemble Diamondhead's body, although this left him conscious.[9]
If Diamondhead's body becomes completely disassembled, he is unable to regenerate himself.[9]
The two shards on Diamondhead's back can leave him stuck on a wall or on other surfaces that he gets knocked into.[46] Gwen as Diamondhead, however, lacks this weakness.
Diamondhead can be trapped in crystal, as demonstrated by Vilgax using the Petropia Back-up Crystal to trap Tetrax.[9]
Diamondhead can be affected by the cold virus.[9]

Trivia[]
- After the destruction of Petropia and prior to the resurrection of the planet and its people in The Secret of Chromastone, Diamondhead and Tetrax were the only known Petrosapiens alive.
- Diamondhead is the first alien to be used more than once in the same episode.
- Diamondhead is the only alien other than Way Big to defeat Vilgax.
- Diamondhead was the first on-screen transformation used with the original Ultimatrix.[47]
- Diamondhead makes a crystalline metallic sound every time he moves.
- Diamondhead is one of only five aliens to appear in each of the Classic Continuity series; the other four are Upchuck, Cannonbolt, Ghostfreak, and Way Big.
- Currently, Cannonbolt, Diamondhead, and Way Big are the only three of these aliens to have appeared in all series of the franchise.
- Diamondhead is one of Ken's favorite aliens.[28]
- In Omniverse, Diamondhead's voice would occasionally be filtered similarly to how it was in the Original Series. For the vast majority of his appearances, however, Diamondhead's voice would remain unfiltered.
- Diamondhead is not made of Taydenite and his crystals have no value.[DJW 1][DM 2]
- In Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, Diamondhead protected his vital organs with an impervious solid purple crystal on his chest.[Bandai 1]
- If Albedo's Negative Diamondhead appeared in Omniverse, his hues would be altered.[DJW 2]
- Chromastone's reformation into Diamondhead in Vengeance of Vilgax: Part 2 had nothing to do with Vilgax's sword being covered in crystal before he killed him.[DM 3]
- Diamondhead was initially supposed to be an additional alien, while Cannonbolt would take his place as one of the original 10 aliens.[pop-up 2][CN 2]
- Diamondhead was initially not supposed to appear in Singlehanded[outline 1] and If All Else Fails, with Chromastone taking his place.[outline 2]
- Had Negative Diamondhead appeared in Omniverse, he would have resembled 16-year-old Diamondhead's appearance in said series, except his hues would have been altered[DJW 3] and his clothes would have been recolored red.[DJW 4]
- Derrick J. Wyatt eventually drew a version of Negative Diamondhead in the Omniverse art style in 2020.[DJW 5]
- In Derrick's opinion, Diamondhead's ability to levitate crystal prisms, make explosive projectiles, and absorb energy were probably due to some storyboard artist who was not familiar with Diamondhead's powers[DJW 6] despite it being in the ADR script for Vengeance of Vilgax: Part 2[script 1][5] and the third draft of the script for Vendetta.[script 2][24]
- Diamondhead is Eric Bauza's favorite alien.[EB 1] He is also Tim Divar's favorite alien to draw.[TD 1]
Notes[]
- ↑ During Season 2 of Alien Force, in Vengeance of Vilgax: Part 2, Chromastone's remains were shown being attracted to the Omnitrix, which transformed Ben into Diamondhead. In the Ben 10: Alien Force Mini Bible, it states that Chromastone had somehow bonded with Diamondhead after this event,[AF Mini Bible 1] then in The Secret of Chromastone, Chromastone was revealed to be residing within Diamondhead, before he was promptly freed by Tetrax and the two transformations returned to being separate afterwards. However, it is unknown if Diamondhead was still merged with Chromastone after this episode during the rest of his appearances in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien.
