The Devolution Bomb, or DNA Bomb, refers to two bombs that were created by Dr. Animo. The first appeared in Secret of the Omnitrix; while the second appeared in Escape From Aggregor.
Appearance[]
The first bomb was built in the derelict room of a nuclear power plant, and was affixed to the side of a nuclear reactor on its upper level, and protected by a hard casing with a porthole on the lower level. It had a basic console and controls, but was connected to all the reactor's pipes, levers, valves, and gagues.
The second bomb was was teal and round, and stood on top of a small mound in a mountain basin. It had many copper wires inside.

Function[]
The first bomb's purpose was to "de-evolutionize the world".[1][2] Dr. Animo's intention was to launch the bomb into the Earth's atmosphere and detonate it, sending out DNA-altering waves of energy across the planet. These waves can seriously alter and mutate a Human's DNA if they wash over them, although Omnitrix transformations are immune from the effects.[3][2] A side effect of the energy waves is setting off a firewall in the Omnitrix and potentially giving its user the opportunity to trigger its self-destruct mode.
The first bomb could be shorted out by taking a prolonged blast of fire or an Opticoid's eye beam to the porthole of its casing, or by rapidly and randomly pulling levers and turning valves; all three methods of which would rapidly heat up the water inside the reactor and lower all its gauges. However, it would still not stop the bomb from having a controlled detonation in place.[2]
The second bomb's purpose was to transform anyone within the range of its blast into a Yeti; which Animo would have then equipped with his Mind Control Headbands to enslave. The blast range was purported to reach across an entire hemisphere of the Earth.[1][4]
The second bomb could be easily dismantled by someone as mechanically knowledgeable as Kevin using only a basic toolkit.[4]
History[]
Ben 10[]
Prior to the opening of Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix, the Tennysons were investigating Dr. Animo, when he managed to catch Gwen and Max and evade Ben's stopping him. He took the two to an abandoned nuclear reactor; then tied them up and suspended them in the air, while he finished working on his DNA Bomb.
As Animo turned the machine on and started its countdown, he gloated, but was interrupted by Ben breaking into the room as an alien (Heatblast; XLR8; or Eye Guy). To slow him down, Animo sent his latest creation, a Mutant Wasp to attack Ben. After fighting with it, Gwen brings Ben's attention to the countdown. In response, he cuts Gwen and Max free and fires a continuous blast at the machine's porthole (or pulls and turns all the levers and valves as XLR8). Animo panickingly fled, as both he and Gwen voiced concern about what Ben was doing to the machine. The machine stopped counting down within its final seconds, and Ben assumed he defused it. However, the machine still sent out its DNA waves. Gwen, Max, and Animo hid; while Ben was bombarded by the waves as they rippled across the entire plant.
This event breached the Omnitrix's firewall and, coupled with Ben foolishly using the Omnitrix immediately when given the chance, was what triggered the Omnitrix's self-destruct mode.
Ultimate Alien[]
In the beginning of Escape From Aggregor, Ben's team intercepted Animo as he set off his new Devolution Bomb in the mountainous arctic. He was using his Mind Control Headbands to control a yeti to fight Ben as Four Arms. Meanwhile, Gwen and Kevin were working together to disassemble the bomb. The yeti was too powerful for Four Arms, so Ben decided to switch to Brainstorm. He was then able to reverse the headband's control and make the yeti turn on Animo; let the yeti free; and capture Animo. Animo pointed out that his bomb was still going to go off, however, was disappointed when he looked over to see it in shambles.
As they reported their mission's success to the Plumbers, they were made aware of Galapagus' rampage back in Bellwood.
