Team Tennyson travel to the new Laser Town VR but when Kevin cheats his way to the top, Ben must team up with former champ Fang if he is going to defeat his souped-up rival.
Plot[]
At a Laser Town establishment, Fang dodges an incoming laser. Hiding from his opponent, he shoots at them using his Tri-Fang, which they dodge. In the Laser Town's lobby, a crowd of people cheer for Fang as they watch his game on a screen. Ben and Gwen emerge from the crowd, claiming the event to be the coolest thing ever. Max explains to the two that he bought ten tickets for the three of them each, with each ticket giving them a life. After noticing the manager walk by, he also reminds them that they are actually banned from Laser Town, and need to keep a low profile. However, Ben shrugs off his concerns, as they are at the "International Virtual Reality Laser Tag Championships", and there are thousands of people there competing to be the best laser tagger in the world.
On the screen, an announcer states that a new player has obtained the Tri-Fang, as Fang is defeated. An individual with the player name "xX_N3V3r_5orrY_Xx" rises to the top of the leaderboard, replacing him. Ben and Gwen decide to find out who that is, with Max tagging along. They find Fang stumbling out of a VR laser tag stall, and Ben catches him. He asks him what happened, and Fang claims "he was everywhere". Ben asks who, only to be met by Kevin. He claims he is the new laser tag VR world champion, which infuriates Ben. They continue to bicker, until Kevin leaves to continue playing. Ben vents to his family about how he should have the championship title, but Gwen points out how he should be helping Fang, who is now depressed from his loss. Misunderstanding her advice, Ben tries to ask Fang for help, who is crying atop a vending machine. He claims he can't teach Ben anything, and hands him his headset, since he doesn't need it anymore. Ben thanks him and tries to enter the game. Ben is met with a blue virtual man on a screen who invites him to the championships. After Ben dons his headset and equips his laser tag gun, he is scanned into the VR environment by a machine.
In virtual reality, Ben finds himself wearing his laser tag outfit. The VR guide reappears, and explains to him the rules of the game. He provides apples for Ben to practice shooting with, although Ben splatters the apples on his face. The VR guide wipes the apple remains away and tells Ben he will be competing in the next round, where the highest-ranking players compete for the title of world champion. He elaborates, explaining that the top player will possess the Tri-Fang, a blaster with three muzzles. Gwen and Max join Ben in virtual reality as the game begins. Ben and Gwen quickly get multiple people out of the game, as does Kevin, leaving just them and Max in the game. Team Tennyson splits up to find Kevin, but Kevin finds Gwen first, getting her out of the game. Later, Max finds him, but his bad aim allows Kevin to take him out too. With them out, Ben decides to use the Omnitrix, and transforms into Four Arms. He tries to track down Kevin, but three of his guns are stolen by Kevin right from under his nose. Four Arms demands Kevin comes out and faces him, which he does as Quad Smack. However, someone gets Four Arms out from behind.
In the real world, Max and Gwen find Ben's loss suspicious. They check in on Ben, who yells out in anger. Gwen points out the possibility that the game is broken, but Ben says Kevin just got lucky. He puts the helmet back on, while Gwen and Max decide to find the manager. However, as they are banned, they wear fake mustaches as disguises. Back in virtual reality, Kevin takes out more players. Ben hides under a slope and transforms into Jetray. Using his tail to hold his gun, he fires at Kevin, although he misses. Kevin hides in a pipe and Jetray follows him, mocking Kevin. Suddenly, Kevin as Bashmouth appears behind Jetray, shocking him. Bashmouth asks someone named Scottie for backup, which summons a horde of Bashmouths. Jetray flies away, but he is eventually caught by Bashmouth, eliminating him from the game. In the real world, Ben explains to the manager that someone is cheating in the game, who coldly responds by recalling Ben being banned. Ben denies the accusation, and returns to his game. Gwen and Max notice the manager, and try to get his attention, but he avoids them and hides in the employees-only area.
In virtual reality, Ben attempts to use Heatblast to take down the many Bashmouths. However, they all turn out to be fakes, and the real Kevin douses Heatblast with a fire extinguisher, taking him out. In the real world, Max and Gwen attempt to distract the manager with Brozone Puncher, but he doesn't fall for their trick. Meanwhile, Ben tries to block Bashmouth's shots with Diamondhead's crystals, but the Bashmouth breaks through them and tags him. Gwen notes to Max Ben isn't doing much better than they are, and Max responds that they really mean "Employees-only". Gwen then gets the idea to ask Fang for help, since he is also an employee. Fang agrees to help them get through the door, but doesn't come along for personal reasons.
In the room, Gwen and Max find Scottie the manager tapping away on a keyboard, and Max grabs him, demanding he start talking. Gwen looks at the computer, and finds multiple Bashmouths under Scottie's control. Max asks him why he wants Kevin to take Fang's title, but Scottie sends the question back at him, asking why Fang wanted to take his title on his thirteenth birthday. Max then notices his nametag, which reads "Scottie Fang". Scottie reveals Fang is his father, shocking Max. Sobbing, Scottie explains he just wanted his father to know he was a winner. Fang then shows up, surprising everyone, explaining he had no idea he felt that way. He offers Scottie a chance to win, together. They make up, dubbing their team "Team Fangyson". The final round is then announced to begin, and Scottie tells Fang to go, and that he will help from his office. Gwen explains he needs to get Ben on his side, or else he's up against two immature boys who can turn into aliens. Fang asks how hard it could be.
In virtual reality, Ben as Rath argues with Bashmouth, who taunts him. He is then assaulted by lasers, which he manages to avoid. With Bashmouth temporarily out of the picture, he tries to strike up an alliance with Rath. However, Bashmouth soons returns, and the two hide behind a wall. Fang asks for Rath's help, and he agrees, as he doesn't have any more tickets left. Rath hoists Fang over the wall, and he unleashes a barrage of lasers at Bashmouth, scoring several points. Rath joins the fray, transforming into Omni-Kix Rath. While Rath distracts him, Fang gains even more points, topping the leaderboard. He reclaims the Tri-Fang, and Bashmouth retaliates by summoning his duplicates again. In real life, Scottie sends Max and Gwen into the virtual world. Just as he is about to sic his doubles on the two, Max and Gwen take over their bodies, and turn against him. They take out the other Bashmouths, and the real one yells at Scottie, since they had a deal. Scottie, however, rejects the deal, much to Bashmouth's surprise. Max and Gwen take each other out, leaving Bashmouth to Rath and Fang. He decides he has to fight them the normal way instead, but times out. Kevin claims its no longer a fair fight, but Rath points out he doesn't deserve a fair fight. Rath times out, and Fang tells Kevin he might be good enough to take the title for real in another arcade. However, this arcade is his house. Kevin tells him to do it already, and Fang pulls the trigger, taking him out.
In the lobby, the crowd cheers. Annoyed, Kevin tosses his headset aside and says he's going to get nachos. Fang and Ben celebrate now that Fang can reclaim his title. Fang thanks Ben for his help, and the latter claims that he is pretty awesome. Fang hopes there is no hard feelings, as he takes out Ben with his Tri-Fang. Fang enters the lobby, with the crowd cheering his name. Ben follows, and he and his family congratulate each other. Scottie gives Fang a crown, claiming he has earned it, but Fang returns it to his son, saying he did. He says he's already has everything he needs, and Scottie asks him if it's family. Fang agrees as he pulls out a locket featuring his Tri-Fang. Kevin walks onto the scene with Nachos, but leaves as soon as he sees the families hugging.
Outside Laser Town, Ben shakes hands with Fang, glad they won the fair way. He says they will see each other next time, but Scottie shuts the notion down, as they are all still banned. Fang and Scottie yell "Team Fangyson!" as they shut the doors to Laser Town. Ben angrily tells them that it isn't their name.
Max's player name, "DJGPA", calls back to his time as a DJ, which was first revealed in The Claws of the Cat.
