Camp Opinicon is a sleepaway camp visited by Team Tennyson in Camp Fear.
History[]
Background[]
Some time before the Camp's creation, a variety of alien fungi came to Earth and lay dormant, buried deep in caves underneath a forest. This same forest is just outside where Camp Opinicon was constructed.[1][2]
Ben 10[]
Just before the events of Camp Fear, the camp decided to employ a construction crew to tunnel down in a new area, unknowingly waking up the aliens. Led by Mycelium, the armies of Fungal Force (among other organisms) began sprouting from the tunnel shaft, and ravaged both the construction site and the camp, killing and eating everyone they could find; the campers while they were eating supper. The only campers who survived the attack were the twins Andy and Mandy, who hid in the kitchen; and Gilbert, who received a fungal infection on his arm and was chased out of camp.
Gilbert stumbled onto the road when Max Tennyson was driving his grandkids Ben and Gwen in the Rustbucket. Max narrowly missed Gilbert, and Ben saved him as Cannonbolt. Max, having passed by Camp Opinicon on the drive, assumed Gilbert was from there and drove them back. The Tennysons would find Andy and Mandy there, and discover the camp to be otherwise abandoned. While they were inside, the alien fungus infected the Rustbucket's engine, stranding the group there. The Fungal Force kidnapped Max and took him into the caves. While Ben investigated the caves as Wildmutt, the mushrooms took control of the camp and spore-releasing puffballs started sprouting; and when he did as XLR8, the tendrils in the caves caught him and brought him to Mycelium. While Ben fought the Mycelium as Wildvine, the kids fought back against the wide breadth of fungi that sprouted to eat them. Eventually, the camp and its caves underground were rid of all fungus. This also lifted the campers' spirits, and they were excited to come back.[2]
The camp resumed its activities, with Cooper joining its new batch of campers. Once he finished his time there for the summer, Max picked him up in the Rustbucket to (eventually) drive him back to his grandfather's house. There, he met Ben and Gwen, and on the way, helped them defeat the Negative 10.[3]
