When I watched the first episode of omniverse, I was pretty disappointed. I mean, AF was really cool and I find UA cool-mostly because of Aggregor and the concept of ultimate aliens. Anyways, at first Omniverse seemed lame.
As I watched it more, it began to appear in a brighter view for me. The notable point of this was the new animation style of which my beother and I wished every series was animated in. I appreciate the original animation a lot these days but still.
Lets start with the basic-Ben. His character in this was conflicted for me. On one hand, the edgy and mature Ben made sense to me and felt good. On the other hand, Ben's apparent lack of maturity, while unrealistic, is awesome to me. Why? I grew sick of the very mature one with time and, apart from that, it was refreshing to return to this formula.
Then there are villains-old and new. My favorite villain in this Ben 10 series was probably Malware (The corrupted Upgrade-species; I ca him that) but the villains weren't particularly awful. Although some redesigns sucked (cass in point; Vilgax) they worked well as villains. Psyphon was nice and Dr.Psychobos wasn't particularly good. (Also liked Ze Scare.)
Then the aliens. Honestly, I'm not particularly sure-Bloxx is dumb, dumb, DUMB but the rest seem relatively fine. Snare-oh seemed interesting to me, Atomix is a concept that should've been used long ago, Blossomed Swampfire was a cool enough concept (although I generally hated Swampfire; he seemed like a tacky Wildvine and Heatblast replacement) and the return of Ben-wolf!
Then other characters...They overdid with love interests (Looma, Kai Green, Attea, that stretchy girl, although I enjoyed modt of them) but the rest work well. There are some never-before seen flashbacks (of which I relished) and more Kevin development. Rook is one of my favorite CNetwork characters.
