The Ben 10 Theme Song is the main theme used in the original Ben 10 series. It plays at the beginning of every episode, after the cold open and before the three acts of the rest of the episode. It is sung by Moxy.
Lyrics[]
“ |
It started when an alien device did what it did So if you see him, you might be in for a big surprise Armed with powers, he's on the case |
” |
Description[]
The theme song opens with flying through a solar system, then a light in the center of the screen illuminates a silhouette of Ben. The first verse features clips from And Then There Were 10: Ben reaching out towards the pod; the Omnitrix inside jumping out and latching to his wrist; first raising and lowering the dial; and Heatblast's first transformation sequence. In the second verse, detailed models of the first ten aliens (illustrated by Andrew Robinson) come flying at the screen, intercut with Wildmutt's transformation sequence. In the bridge, a Flash-animated sequence begins, showing Ben turning into each alien, counting up to ten. The order is as follows:
- 1 - Wildmutt
- 2 - Four Arms
- 3 - Grey Matter
- 4 - XLR8
- 5 - Upgrade
- 6 - Diamondhead
- 7 - Ripjaws
- 8 - Stinkfly
- 9 - Ghostfreak
- 9 - Cannonbolt ( Season 3-4 )
- 10 - Heatblast
Ben slams the ground. As the song winds down, we are shown more clips: Wildmutt pouncing;[1] Diamondhead's debut transformation sequence;[1] Heatblast's first fireball;[1] Ben slamming down the Omnitrix;[2] Gwen fighting the Mutant Parrot;[2] Four Arms' transformation sequence;[2] and XLR8 running on water.[3] Then, every detailed and Flash-animated alien all get sucked into the center of the screen, producing the title logo.
Variations[]
After Season 2, a new version of theme was created for Seasons 3 and 4. It was made in large part to respect the continuity of Ghostfreak's escape from the Omnitrix, and how he was no longer part of Ben's lineup of aliens. During the second verse, Ghostfreak's detailed render is replaced with a new render of Cannonbolt. Wildmutt's transformation sequence is replaced with shots of the Omnitrix cycling through aliens' holograms during Master Control mode[4] and Cannonbolt's transformation sequence[5]. During the Flash-animated sequence, Cannonbolt replaces Ghostfreak's position as the 9th alien. As the song winds down, a new set of clips are shown. Wildmutt pouncing remains the same, but every other one is different: Diamondhead shooting crystals while flying in the air;[6] Heatblast blasting off;[7] XLR8 running;[7] Four Arms using a sword to slice a gargoyle;[8] and the Omnitrix reattaching to Ben.[4]
Appearances[]
- Ben 10
- As mentioned, the song appears in every episode.
- The instrumental of the song is played during the credits of every episode as well.
- Ben 10: Race Against Time
- A pop punk-inspired cover of the song in the key of B minor is used for the opening credits of the film.

Errors[]
- In the Flash-animated sequence:
- Wildmutt has an Omnitrix symbol, but it's located on his left wrist instead of his left shoulder.
- Four Arms, Upgrade, Diamondhead, Ghostfreak, and Heatblast all do not have an Omnitrix symbol.
- Upgrade's body is bluish grey instead of white.
- XLR8's visor's highlights are green instead of blue.
- Ripjaws' body is green, and the highlights on the tail are white, along with the fins.
- Stinkfly's eyes are red, the end of his tail is white instead of black, and his wings are the wrong color.
- Ghostfreak's eye is red instead of purple.
- In some airings of Seasons 1-2 after Heatblast sets the screen on fire and before Ben lands on the ground, Heatblast can still be seen for a few frames when Ben is about to fall. This error was fixed in subsequent releases (notably the HD Widescreen releases).
- In the Indian version (Hindi dub), Ripjaws is pronounced as Ripjaw.
- The closed captions on the Ben 10: The Complete Season 1 DVD misspell:
- "It started when a alien device did what it did"
- "And snuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid"
- "He's funny, freaky, fast and strong, he's every shape and size"
- "All new powers, He's on the case"
- "Fighting all evil From earth or space"
- "He'll never stop Till it's OK."
- "Because he's the baddest kid To ever save the day"
Trivia[]
- The theme song makes a number of minor appearances throughout the franchise:
- An instrumentation of the main melody can be heard in the intro sequence of Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix.
- The main melody of the theme song to Alien Force features an instrumentation of the verses' melody in half-time.
- A remixed version of the melody plays when the player enters an elevator in the Bellwood level of Vilgax Attacks.
- In Ben 10/Generator Rex: Heroes United, Rex invents and sings his own theme song, which is just the Original Series theme song but with different lyrics.
- As a meta joke, Agent Six compliments it for being catchy.
- In Tim Buk-TV, Ben sings the song while he is transforming.
- The baseline of the theme song is played when Ben introduces himself in Crossover Nexus.
- The song can be heard in the credits for the first Ben 10 reboot game.

Test footage of XLR8
- The Flash-animated segment was meant to show that the series would also be fun, in addition to having action.[AC 1]
- In some early airings of the series, the part of the opening that shows XLR8 running on water from The Krakken used test footage instead of the final footage. In the test footage, XLR8 ran by rotating his legs.
- In the Mandarin version, the aliens are mentioned in Mandarin after the female singer stops singing.
- In the Arabic version (the TV airings of Venus Centre's version), the theme is the first thing that plays rather than having the cold open.
- A motif that is stylistically similar to this theme appears in the soundtrack of Alien X-Tinction, during Original Series Ben's transformation sequence.
- The singer who sings the Ben 10 theme song in India, Sunidhi Chauhan, sang the Ben 10 theme song at one of her shows due to public demand.[SCO 1]
