– Mr. Baumann to Ben.[1] |
Baumann's Store is a shop located in Bellwood, run by Ignacius Baumann. It primarily sells foodstuffs and groceries, mostly for aliens.
Appearance[]
In Ultimate Alien, Baumann's store was a large, square warehouse-like building; surrounded by fencing and with a parking lot in front, nearly as big as the store. It had white walls, a curved blue roof, and a large main entrance closed by a shutter but normally kept open during the day.
Inside, the store had a straight path from the entrance to Mr. Baumann's counter at the other end, where Baumann could serve customers sitting on stools and enter the stockroom right behind him. All the products lined the sides of the store, of which some were displayed in open boxes and others were hung up, all in kiosk-style areas with overhangs that featured alien writing. Lamps hung from the high ceiling and the store generally had a flat blue color scheme.
In Omniverse, the store stayed mostly the same. On the outside, the store has switched to tan-colored walls; a red multi-layered roof; and has windows and support columns installed all around. The fencing around the property has been switched out for fortified walls, which have since been graffitied. Inside, products now have new varieties of being displayed, such as on tables or shelves; mostly the latter. Baumann's counter is now expanded forward and has a diner-style checkerboard pattern. Fluorescent light fixtures now hang in place of lamps.
In a flashback 10 years prior to Omniverse in The Ballad of Mr. Baumann, the store had started out as a smaller, standard brick-and-mortar shop on a street corner.

A variety of products are available at Baumann's Store, some for humans as well as aliens. These include:

History[]
10 Years Prior to Omniverse[]
In a flashback from The Ballad of Mr. Baumann, before the night when Mr. Baumann met Sheelane, 5-year-old Ben did 10 dollars and 1 cent of damage to the Lima Beans stack. According to Mr. Baumann, this summed up Ben's total damage to his store to $20.05.
Five Years Prior to Omniverse[]
In another flashback from The Ballad of Mr. Baumann, 5.22 years after the previous flashback, 11-year-old Ben and Max visit Baumann's Store. At first, they don't find Mr. Baumann in there. When Ben finds him, he is surprised and accidentally knocks down the Lima Beans stack again. But this time, he catches them all before they can be damaged. Later, Ben suspiciously attacks an alien as Cannonbolt, but it is revealed that the alien was a customer and meant no harm. Soon, Vulkanus attacked the store and Ben fought him with Max's help while Baumann flees with Element X to meet Sheelane.
In a flashback from Special Delivery, 11-year-old Ben, as Way Big, fought Dr. Animo and his Mutant Mosquito outside Baumann's Store and inadvertently threw one of the delivery trucks into space.
Four Years Prior to Ultimate Alien[]
Before Ultimate Alien, Ben had last visited the store when he was 12.[7][2]
Ultimate Alien[]
In The Purge, as the Forever Knights continue their purge of all alien life on Earth, Ben's team and Argit visit Mr. Baumann at his store. He doesn't recognize Kevin or Argit, and hands Ben an Acturian Spider Egg sac to give to Max, free of charge. They ask him if he had seen any Knights lately, to which he replies no. Gwen senses something and makes the group pretend to leave. They catch Baumann going to the stockroom and talking with an alien family he's been sheltering there. Baumann is forced to explain to them that the Knights came by two days before, spreading word of the purge and starting to periodically search the store for any aliens.
The trio comes back the next morning, on a Thursday, hoping to lure the Knights with the abundance of alien customers waiting in the parking lot for the supply ship. Just as the ship arrives, a small army of Knights led by Sir Driscoll come attacking. Kevin, Gwen, and Ben nearly fight them all off and ensure the aliens get out safely, but a tank knocks the trio out, and the Knights hold the aliens captive. As the trio comes to, Ben challenges Driscoll to a duel: if Ben wins, the Knights would let the alien prisoners go and stop the purge; if Driscoll wins, they would kill the prisoners and Ben's team. They fight honorably, until Ben as Ultimate Spidermonkey overpowers Driscoll and, instead of yielding, Driscoll stubbornly orders the Knights to aim at the prisoners anyway. In anger, Ben nearly kills Driscoll, and demands him to make his Knights stand down and retreat, threatening to kill them if they don't. Driscoll and his knights withdraw.
