During the production of Ultimate Alien was Bandai's decision to age up Ben from 15 to 16, as they wanted him to be able to drive a car for the sake of merchandising.[CF 1]
During the production of Omniverse, Bandai came up with the idea of involving both 11 and 16-year-old Ben in the plot without using time travel, which was further developed by Dwayne McDuffie.[CF 1]
Bandai worked with art director Derrick J. Wyatt to create the toy line, with the latter giving notes to make the characters more on-model,[DJW 1] suggesting accessories to pair with the figures,[ms 1][ms 2][ms 3] or even creating toy-exclusive designs, namely Toepick's tentacle-covered face.[DJW 2]
At some point, Bandai requested the addition of something that would allow one transformation to use the powers of another, which led to Skurd being added during the production of Season 8.[DJW 3][DJW 4] His inclusion was a last-minute change that the crew had to go back and integrate into what they were already planning. They were afraid that they would put work into it, and Bandai wouldn't end up making any toys of it,[DJW 5] which ended up being the case, as Cartoon Network never shared their programming schedule with Bandai.[DJW 5]
